Growing up, my dad would make my mom a cocktail with bourbon and Coke. He called it a "hi - ball"

Coke is mostly water, citric acid, sugar, and caramel color. You can use it in anything as a substitute for similar ingredients. Add salt and you have a pork or turkey marinade, or reduce for a glaze. I never cook with it just because we don't drink soda although we keep some ginger ale around for update stomachs. Gotta buy the kind that actually has ginger though.
