I've deleted it twice before. I've considered deleting it again, but haven't yet.

I deleted it years ago. Best thing I ever did with regards to anything online. why do you say that as well. I'm not a very envious person, but constantly seeing people going on trips, buying new cars, going to shows, etc. eventually wore on me and I started feeling like I needed to try to "keep up with the Joneses" I was getting friend requests from people I barely knew or didn't know. I had a girl I knew in high school (but never dated) friend request me which I accepted, but then started getting stalked by her. I could have just unfriended her or blocked her but that was basically the final straw.

No. I keep it. It's like a town meeting for on-line folk. A way of keeping in touch with old friends, schools, places I've lived; also, a useful resource for special interests I share with others. I don't have a problem with it.

I can't even access my account anymore, ever since getting "locked out" recently (though not really sure why, or how that happened). Now, in order to get back in, it keeps telling me I MUST have a mobile phone number in order to do so.....something I've never had, or included when first creating my account years ago. I've searched online, and SUPPOSEDLY there's some way of "verifying" an account without a mobile number.......but when looking for the details as to how to actually do so, I can't seem to find the information anywhere. You would THINK Facebook just MIGHT have that detailed information SOMEWHERE, after all, I can't believe I'm the ONLY person on the planet who's run into this, and maybe they do, but if so, they've done a VERY good job of hiding it (not only on their site, but everywhere else as well!)! As time passes, and because I originally established my account for purposes OTHER than posting on Facebook (I've never once posted a photo, or even a comment on my Facebook page....or anyone else's, for that matter), I realize it's just not worth wasting any more time on, and for now, have left it at that (though the one thing I DO miss is being able to look somebody else (or a 'business') up (especially old friends, classmates, work associates, etc.), whenever I want to).... SAVE FERRIS

I deleted my Facebook when my ex dumped me since she was the only reason I was on there in the first place.

I haven't and I am not planning on, but I have been a strictly passive user for quite some time now - meaning, I check my news feed regularly, but I never post anything.

I dumped mine back in May 2018.
that site can't be trusted (they have proved this with data leaks etc). the ONLY reason it's of any worth is for general family contact online, but short of that, it's a plague to the internet as one major reason against them, putting the leaks aside, is they want too much personal info signing up etc as back when I signed up you had to send them your driver license etc which is BS. I should have known right then and there that site was screwed up. but I think I removed a good portion of the info on my license before sending them the picture of it. but 'supposedly' they remove all of your account data within 90 days of closing ones account.

I've never joined. When FB first became popular, it was geared toward young users. I didn't really qualify, on that front. When it became more widespread, a member of my high school class, invited many who have stayed in-touch with each other, to "friend" her. FB e-mailed me to say that "Susie" (not her real name), had invited me to "friend" her. I didn't have any serious objection to that, but I didn't know much about FB. However, I opted not to join. A few weeks later, FB sent me a follow-up message, with an attitude that I didn't like. I can't recall the exact wording, but the underlying message was: "'Susie' has invited you to join her on FB, and you haven't done it yet."Wrong approach! I've never regretted my decision.

"...back when I signed up you had to send them your driver license etc which is BS."Wow! That would have been a deal killer. And, it reminds me that a friend signed-up several years ago. He was asked for his date of birth. He doesn't give his DOB to online sites, because he doesn't believe that it's any of their damned business. So, on the spot, he just makes up birth a day/month/year. He did not make a note of the date that he posted. When he tried to sign-in to his account, they wouldn't let him on because the birth date was incorrect. He figured: To Hell with it!

I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I had signed up for it because I saw a colleague playing a game that looked like fun. (Farm). Then I found another game that I liked even better (sims like). Then I found a college friend who played the same game. He sent me a gift via game and then asked for a return gift. I complied and sent a gift. Week goes by... soandso wants to know when you are going to send the gift. I checked my files and not only did the gift get there he had already received it. Since it was free I sent another one just to see wtf. And sure enough ... Where's my gift?
That point I said gfy.

I deleted my account years ago. Some of us on the IMDb RFS board also knew each other on Facebook where there was more personal info. Around 2015 or so, the RFS board was hit with a troll group invasion. These trolls were organized and loved to disrupt boards for entertainment. They specifically targeted two posters and eventually found their FB pages. The trolls began to piece together info from the posters' FB friends list to doxx other posters on the IMDb. That was it for me and I deleted my FB page.
Aside from that I was starting to become sickened by the whole "culture of me". I don't want to know all the mundane details of everyone's lives.
Last year I was reading an article about the people in Las Vegas who design casino games, etc. Their main purpose is to find ways to keep you playing. Those same people are now working for social media sites. I felt like FB was always wanting me to do something I didn't really feel like doing. One time it was a security issue and I had to take action to correct the problem. Another instance I had spent a lot of time "liking" movies and books, etc. Then one day they created whole new sections for movies and books. I decided I wasn't going to do it all over again. And it seemed as if people were always harassing me to join Farmville or Mafia Wars.
It all reminds me of an episode of Star Trek: TNG where the crew acquired some cyber game which was very much like an addictive drug. Soon almost everyone didn't want to do anything but play the game.
