I deleted my account years ago. Some of us on the IMDb RFS board also knew each other on Facebook where there was more personal info. Around 2015 or so, the RFS board was hit with a troll group invasion. These trolls were organized and loved to disrupt boards for entertainment. They specifically targeted two posters and eventually found their FB pages. The trolls began to piece together info from the posters' FB friends list to doxx other posters on the IMDb. That was it for me and I deleted my FB page. Aside from that I was starting to become sickened by the whole "culture of me". I don't want to know all the mundane details of everyone's lives. Last year I was reading an article about the people in Las Vegas who design casino games, etc. Their main purpose is to find ways to keep you playing. Those same people are now working for social media sites. I felt like FB was always wanting me to do something I didn't really feel like doing. One time it was a security issue and I had to take action to correct the problem. Another instance I had spent a lot of time "liking" movies and books, etc. Then one day they created whole new sections for movies and books. I decided I wasn't going to do it all over again. And it seemed as if people were always harassing me to join Farmville or Mafia Wars. It all reminds me of an episode of Star Trek: TNG where the crew acquired some cyber game which was very much like an addictive drug. Soon almost everyone didn't want to do anything but play the game. Very interesting info about the RFS Board back then. I used to lurk over there (posted only a few times, but mainly just perused the topics and threads) So yeah, I know what you're talking about. I witnessed all that as a silent observer.
I gave your post it a "like"... wish I could've given it a "double like", lol.

ANYONE else also DELETE or haven't looked at their Twitter account (IF you have one, that IS) in a LONG time (like MORE than a DECADE or at LEAST half of one)?!

Thanks, Zolotoy. After that troll invasion, about 40% of the best posters left that board for a private board on another site. The plan was to return after the trolls moved on. But a lot of people never came back because the IMDb seemed powerless to stop those trolls. It drastically changed the face of the board.

I will view Facebook postings, but I will never submit a profile, despite continued requests from the Facebook admin.

never had fb because i consider it a bad thing. a fake ass world that drives people to their worst plus they experiment on people and abuse their data so yeah congrats u deleted
i recently also quit something online that i knew was bad for me so i know the initial struggle where u miss the thing and even face withdrawal symptoms but that doesn last, dont worry.
the important thing is to replace it wih a healthier activity. what have u replaced it with? (sport is the best of course)

I did once years ago as I wanted a break from social media. I eventually signed up again a year or two later as I moved and wanted to stay in touch with friends.

Ties with extended family is the only thing keeping it alive for me. I'm no longer active, at all, & yet fam seems to prefer FB to emailing (& of course phone calls), which is fine for photos & long distance connects. I've not added/been added by anyone since 2011 or something. It took me a couple years to realize how much of a bubble the FB mid 00's truly was.

No. I just bought a car I found on there, and also use it for finding work gigs, so it comes in handy.
Never got addicted or caught up in the actual social aspect, which is probably why I don't feel the same anguish toward it as some of you.
