Say for some reason you have an added expense of like 200$ per month. Or you simply can't afford to buy food. And you say damn. Here's what you can do. If you got internet...put it on hold for 2 weeks out of the month. That saves you 25 dollar per month. Then u use that 25 dollar to buy 3 10 pound bags of potatoes per month and butter. Then what u do also. You just spend 25 dollars of your own money, and buy eggs. Mayonnaise . Bread and peanut butter. And then when u get sick of potatoes, you can eat those things. Average person spends 200 a month on food. Now you can save, 175 dollar.
U don't eat no breakfast though. It is ok.

mstreepsucks: I don't know if my Internet provider even offers such a service as "putting my Internet on hold for 2 weeks out of the month". It's an intriguing idea, though...

mstreepsucks: I don't know if my Internet provider even offers such a service as "putting my Internet on hold for 2 weeks out of the month". It's an intriguing idea, though... they usually Do BUT not that often and they also charge a small fee - to prevent people from scheming like Meryl suggests . Mine charges 25-50 depending on the length of suspension. Would be interested in someone experience no charge for suspension/postponing services especially repeatedly.

Another trick is to take a backpack of various disguises to the grocery on free sample day. Get a sample, go to the restroom change your look, repeat.

In the novel Choke by Chuck Palahniuk (there was also a movie with Sam Rockwell) the protagonist has this scheme He goes to various expensive restaurants and purposely causes himself to choke midway through his meal, luring a "good Samaritan" into saving his life. He keeps a detailed list of everyone who saves him and sends them frequent letters about fictional bills he is unable to pay. The people feel so sorry for him that they send him cards and letters asking him about how he is doing, and continue to send him money to help him with the bills.
I always wondered whether this would work in real life. I don't think it would, but perhaps someone should try it out for real.

There's a lot of food waste in modern, industrialized nations. I mean, a LOT.

Reminds of a real-life story of a guy who’d purposefully ram his car into good-looking women’s cars just so he could get their numbers when they exchanged insurance info.
