Who/when was the first gig you went to? I can't remember, probably something like Electric Light Orchestra with my parents. First that I paid for myself was probably Ash in the late 90s.
First festival you went to? One of the dance music festivals in the UK, either Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, Homelands, or Creamfields. They all blurred into one really.
First gig you went to on your own? Another one I can't remember, maybe Asian Dub Foundation?
Band you've seen the most? Lamb and Lou Rhodes (singer of Lamb). Seen them three times, once at Reading Festival, twice at their own gigs, and Lou Rhodes twice at her own gigs. My girlfriend at the time was obsessed with her and even managed to contact her to do a painting commission. Underworld would probably be second.
Band you've seen the most in one year? See previous question.
Best gig(s)? Autechre at SE1 2003, Melt-Banana at Rock City 2010 (I think), Aphex Twin at Manchester Depot 2019, Philip Glass at Barbican 2006
Worst gig/band you saw live? Towers of London at Download Festival about a decade ago.
Venue you visited the most? O2 in Leicester, Firebug in Leicester, Rock City in Nottingham, Royal Albert Hall in London, Brixton Academy in London, Royal Festival Hall in London, Barbican in London, Camden Roundhouse in London...
Favourite venue? Bush Hall in London, very small and intimate, nice architecture.
Support band you had not heard of before that blew you away? I can't really think of any to be honest. Most of them that I did like were ones I'd heard of before.
Most moving performance? Joanna Newsom and Roy Harper at The Royal Albert Hall, 2007.
Best visuals/light show? Amon Tobin on his ISAM tour, Manchester Academy 2012.
Best bands you saw "cold" (saw them having not heard them before)? The vast majority of the bands I saw at Supersonic Festival last year - Jerusalem in My Heart, Prison Religion, Sly & The Family Drone. I was also quite fond of Amiina who supported Sigur Ros all the way back in 2006ish.
Furthest you travelled to see a band? 100 miles to go to Manchester to see Aphex Twin last year.
Worst injury sustained at a gig? I've never been injured but a friend of mine did have a freak accident at a dance music festival. Some keys on a chain were swung by some rowdy drunk which hit my friend in the face and ended up scratching his eyeball. We just arrived and 2 hours later he was in the medical tent before I had to say goodbye because he had to go to the hospital.

Venue you visited the most? Probably The Troubadour in West Hollywood
Favourite venue? The El Rey in the Mid-Wilshire district
Best visuals/light show? most of the bands I've seen aren't "Visual" bands...Hmm...Maybe Radiohead at Coachella 2004 ..Cool blue lighting..Have seen Bjork on several occasions and she herself is always an interesting visual
Furthest you travelled to see a band? to San Francisco (From LA).. several bands fit this
Worst injury sustained at a gig? Can't say I've been injured..Benefit of being a large individual..lol
Most moving performance? Maybe Antony & the Johnsons at UCLA in 2001..Super emotional

Who/when was the first gig you went to? Erasure at the Marquee, London
First festival you went to? Reading
First gig you went to on your own? Simple Minds, Milton Keynes Bowl. I guess going on your own isn't that common, though I did it a lot.
Band you've seen the most? The Wonder Stuff or The Godfathers
Band you've seen the most in one year? Mega City 4
Best gig(s)? The first time I saw Guitar Wolf Beastie Boys at Marquee London Depeche Mode, Songs Of Faith & Devotion Tour Wonder Stuff/Carter USM/Nine Inch Nails, Paris Bowie, London Astoria 1999
Worst gig/band you saw live? Some early Blur shows were really poor. Worst probably Chumbawamba at Glastonbury

Favourite venue? The Marquee, London
Support band you had not heard of before that blew you away? Wonder Stuff supporting Mighty Lemon Drops
Most moving performance? Bowie playing Life On Mars at The Astoria
Best visuals/light show? Depeche Mode, Songs Of Faith & Devotion Tour Spiritualized at Glastonbury Human League, Cambridge
Best bands you saw "cold" (saw them having not heard them before)? On a whim went to see The Upper Crust play on a boat in New York. Mat some girls who recommended Three Bad Jacks that same night in a bar in Manhattan. Both were excellent Mano Negra at Glastonbury
Furthest you travelled to see a band? London to Lisbon to see Echo & The Bunnymen last year
Worst injury sustained at a gig? Either a head clash during Fatima Mansions causing a massive black eye, or a head clash during Faith No More supporting Guns'n'Roses which knocked me out a bit.

EDIT : Okay, more. Artist with best dialogue - Marc Almond, Sonya Madan Worst dialogue - Lou Reed/Shane MacGowan or any of the band - maybe an odd grunt . A Certain Ratio - zilch - Kraftwerk - zilch. But you don't care really, long as they play alright.
Best dressed artist - depends what you like but Nick Cave, Annabella L'win. Worst/funniest - Nick Cave when he took off his Armani jacket and the dry cleaner ticket was still on his waistcoat. He had the power of humour to play it out of course.

How did I forget them. Brixton actually might be might most visited venue as well. Possibly even Koko/Camden Palace. Used to go clubbing every Tuesday night there...not sure how I did it on a workday. £2 entrance with a flyer and a band...good times. First time I went Nitzer Ebb and Adamski were playing...and I met Vince Clarke! Last time was to see Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds there.

100 miles to go to Manchester to see Aphex Twin last year. I'll have this beat at the end of March when I'll be traveling 300 miles across the sea to go to an experimental music festival in The Hague. At this rate in 2050 I'll be flying to the moon to watch a guy pluck a broken banjo.

Who/when was the first gig you went to? I went to a few as a kid that I don't really remember... I know one was Janet Jackson.
First festival you went to? Not a "festival," exactly, but there was a day-long metal show that I saw in my teens that included Opeth, Lamb of God, and Megadeth.
First gig you went to on your own? Actually none. Always gone with someone.
Band you've seen the most? Opeth 3x
Band you've seen the most in one year? Don't think I've ever seen any band more than once in a year. Don't travel enough for that.
Best gig(s)? Last year I finally saw Tool. Really a transcendental experience.
Worst gig/band you saw live? I don't think I've seen any truly terrible shows. I did see Queensryche when only Geoff Tate was left, and he wasn't in the best voice at the time.
Venue you visited the most? Probably our Zoo Amphitheater because it's been around since I was a kid.
Favourite venue? Eh, I get in-get out of most venues so I haven't really stayed to check them out. I think Chesapeake Arena is pretty nice the times I've been there.
Support band you had not heard of before that blew you away? I saw Sumo Cyco as one of the opening bands for Jinjer last year. They weren't even listed as one of the opening acts, but they blew me away with their energy. Twice the singer was literally right next to me (less than a foot) performing in the crowd. Great stuff, and I've come to enjoy their music as well.
Most moving performance? Best visuals/light show? Both Tool.
Best bands you saw "cold" (saw them having not heard them before)? Never actually done this unless we count opening acts.
Furthest you travelled to see a band? Dallas (200 miles from me)
Worst injury sustained at a gig? Not an injury, but my back can get sore after hours of standing. At the Jinjer gig I nearly passed out from a combination of heat, dehydration, and not having eaten anything in hours. Really the worst thing that happened to me at a gig wasn't an injury, but a dude puking on me at the outdoor amphitheater early at the show in about 100 degree heat. It was pretty rank by the time I left.

Who/when was the first gig you went to? Iron Maiden, supported by Anthrax, at the Birmingham NEC. 1990, I think
First festival you went to? Only ever been to one proper festival, the Download festival God knows how many years ago. It was the one where Metallica headlined, but Lars Ulrich was hospitalised or drugged or something, so Dave Lombardo and the guy from Slipknot took over on drums, and they had to play all their early stuff. Which suited me fine.
First gig you went to on your own? Can't remember now, I've probably been to as many gigs on my own as with someone else.
Band you've seen the most? Killing Joke. I see 'em most years, if just because it gets me a weekend piss-up in London with a mate I used to work with.
Band you've seen the most in one year? Not sure I've seen anyone twice in one year. If I did, it was probably a second division goth band like Nosferatu or something. Whoever played Rock City in Nottingham when I was a student.
Best gig(s)? Joanna Newsom supported by Roy Harper is probably the best I've ever seen live. Melt-Banana supported by The Ex would push 'em pretty close though.
Worst gig/band you saw live? Oasis, live at Bolton Wanderer's ground. Supported by The Happy Mondays and a bunch of other indie chancers. Happy Mondays were the most disappointing, for a band with such a reputation they're so sedate and lacking in character or charisma. I didn't have any expectations of Oasis, and they didn't achieve much. Never seen a band break down mid-song quite as often.
Venue you visited the most? Probably Manchester Academy 2 or 3, whatever they call 'em now. The old student union. Not that I was a student there.
Favourite venue? Don't really have one.
Support band you had not heard of before that blew you away? The Ex were a band I'd heard of, but hadn't heard anything by when I saw them, and they were incredible. Especially as their original lead singer of like the last 30 years had just left.
Most moving performance? Joanna Newsom. Just privileged to hear something so profoundly great.
Best visuals/light show? Rammstein, I guess. Laibach, too, they had a stadium-esque set-up in a small venue.
Best bands you saw "cold" (saw them having not heard them before)? The Ex. After that, I dunno. Most surprising was Linkin Park, they actually put on a decent show at the aforementioned Download fest.
Furthest you travelled to see a band? London or Glasgow. 170-odd miles to each as the crow flies, but it's only 2 hours on the train to either, so it's not like I really stressed myself.
Worst injury sustained at a gig? None

Who/when was the first gig you went to? Yes, 1975, Capital Centre, Landover, Maryland.
First festival you went to? H.O.R.D.E. Festival, 1997, Suwannee River State Park,Live Oak, Florida. Headliner was Neil Young & Crazy Horse.
First gig you went to on your own? The only one was Billy Squier / Ratt, 1984, Mobile, Alabama.
Band you've seen the most? Rush 4x and Heart 4x.
Band you've seen the most in one year? Never saw a band more than once a year.
Best gig(s)? Yes, 1975.
Worst gig/band you saw live? The Black Crowes, 1996. I'm a fan, but Chris Robinson was so drunk/stoned that he kept slurring the lyrics and stumbling around onstage.
Venue you visited the most? Municipal Auditorium, Mobile, Alabama.
Favourite venue? The Saenger Theater, Pensacola, Florida.
Support band you had not heard of before that blew you away? Not a band but Allen Toussaint opened for Neil Young in 2010. 72 years old and rockin' it.
Most moving performance? Yes, 1975. Specifically the song "Close To The Edge."
Best visuals/light show? Rush, 1984, Grace Under Pressure tour.
Best bands you saw "cold" (saw them having not heard them before)? Soul Coughing, 1997.
Furthest you travelled to see a band? 275 miles to see Neil Young & Crazy Horse.
Worst injury sustained at a gig? Not much of an injury. In 1982 at a Van Halen concert I made the mistake of standing on the floor close to the stage and speakers. The ringing in my ears continued for about 24 hours.

Who/when was the first gig you went to?....local band in YMCA, 1973. "PROPER GIG"...Think it was Tom Robinson Band 1978 Lewisham Odeon (that or someone punk at the Marquee around the same time) First festival you went to?...Hate the idea, went to first "all dayer" in Brockwell Park South London 1980? with The Members, Pete Townsend (very pissed) Richie Havens, Aswad etc etc. First gig you went to on your own....As above Band you've seen the most?....Hawkwind (over 20 times) Johnny Thunders 10-20 times Iggy Pop 10-20 times Band you've seen the most in one year? Probably Iron Maiden or Def Leppard or Marillion when they had Marquee residences (worked near the Marquee so went a few nights every week) during NWOBHM period 1980ish Best gig(s)?....Pistols...Finsbury Park 96....Bad Seeds Murder Ballads Tour 96 (same month)…..some druggie Hawkwind ones and the first Velvet Underground London gig (96 again) Worst gig/band you saw live?...Pete Townsend as above, was so drunk he kept missing the "windmill" arm and slurred a lot and was all over the place, Jim Capaldi saved his set. Venue you visited the most? ….Marquee by a mile, must have been over a hundred. Favourite venue?....Always had a soft spot for the old London Rainbow and Brixton Academy, but the Marquee was the best venue on Earth until it moved to Charing x road. Support band you had not heard of before that blew you away?....Anna Calvi although I went to see her specifically. only about 50 people watched at the London Borderline. She was and is astonishing Most moving performance?....Again Anna Calvi Best visuals/light show?....Always Hawkwind, especially if you are tripping Best bands you saw "cold"....Flux Of Pink Indians, in a squat. great fun. Furthest you travelled to see a band?...a few miles? Never had to go far, live in London. My first ever gig was at the Wardour St Marquee, but the Charing X was one of my most regular visited venues. Personally, I preferred that one. The upper tier was one reason I put many a cigarette out on the old cinema carpet downstairs (red if memory serves) was always as near to the stage as possible for as long as poss then back to the bar for a break type myself, would stand half way up the stairs on occasion though. Think the last gig I saw at the Wardour Street was "Fischer Z the week they closed and the first at Charin X Rd a Johnny Thunders one. Still got a piece of Wardour Street rubble in my garden as went up when it was being demolished especially. The Charing X road one is now a massive Witherspoon's pub with Marquee history on the walls. Hey ho.
