I diverge slightly but... Who was the arse who said 'some people think that football is a matter of life and death - I say to them, it's much more important than that.' He surely said it irreverently but it's since been seized upon as gospel by many a misguided sentimentalist. But watching the interview where he said it, it appears he believed his own words with a passion beyond doubt, which makes him even more of an arse. Bill Shankly's the fellow (With respect, Mr Fury, of course)

Boo Liverpool, boo Klopp 👎 The FA have confirmed that all Prem clubs knew and agreed in advance of the season that any 4th round replays would take place in the first week of their break thing. Now Liverpool are going all out for the Prem title, they are reneging on the agreed season schedule. Shameful ☹️ Give Liverpool a big points deduction in the league. Learn em a lesson. And in future, if they are too weak to play a full domestic season's schedule, don't sign up for it.

I see this Acrington Stanley scunthorpe is getting a load of attention. Its grand leave the kids have their game, hopefully Adrian stays behind cos our little young keeper Kelleher left in 10 goals in his last couple of games. And if I was the Ox or Lallana I'd be putting my hand up to stay behind and get a game, hopefully a few first teamers stay behind. Yesterday was the first I heard of this PL break, didnt even know it was coming

I agree with the Accrington Stanley Chairman...
"He's (Klopp) a disgrace," Holt said. "I'll never understand why top clubs and top Premier League players don't stand up and stay united with clubs and players further down the pyramid. This is pure selfishness of the highest degree."
"I'd drag myself out of bed to play the replay. Because it's the right thing to do. I wouldn't give a shit how tired I was. I'd do the right thing. I'd give a bit back instead of being a grasping, selfish type."
"We spoke about the FA Cup and how top Premier League [clubs] would rather be playing exhibition matches in China building their profits and brands. That's why the FA were considering significantly increasing the first prizes far more than the earlier rounds proportionately."
"We have only just given up 5th round replays. They're back for 4th round replays. They join in the 3rd [round].
"Jurgen, @lfc, you're embarrassing yourself. You're tarnishing your reputation. Rethink where you go from here. You're killing the FA Cup. There's calls to kill the Carabao Cup. You're killing us."
“This is a battle @fa must win or their flagship competition is totally undermined. “This is a battle @epl must win, or they should shut up shop."
“@lfc need censuring and fining heavily. It’s not their football. It’s ours."
“This path we’re on, forever losing out to @premierleague greed has to stop. It might have to be government or supporters that have to fight for our game in the end. In the absence of strong @fa or @efl there may be no other option."

But seriously, if any integrity is to be left in the competition then Liverpool should be punished. I don't really consider the EPL to be part of the sport anymore if that makes sense, see them as an "exhibition" type organisation that exists to make money, the irony of course is that any true fan wants their team to win every game which would lead them if successful to being part of the farce.

Yesterday was the first I heard of this PL break, didnt even know it was coming It isn't, or at least not in the way they'd have you think. There's no 2 week blanket EPL break, it's just a period where teams have 2 weeks off between their own games, if that makes sense. I'm sure I've got this but you can check for yourself, brah. There are games on all the weekends in February but the fixtures are contrived to allow a 12-14 or so day break for sides. For example, your boys' break begins the day after you play Leicester (break starts 2nd Feb) and ends the day before you play Norwich (break ends 14th Feb) Whereas, Everton take their break from the day after they play Crystal Palace (break begins 9th Feb) and ends the day before they play Arsenal (break ends 22nd Feb) It's like a staff rota, for crissakes, just depends which weekend slot your team has been allotted to begin their break. Breaks started first - Wolves, Leicester, Burnley, Norwich, Liverpool, Southampton, Villa, Spurs, Newcastle, Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea (break 1st/2nd - 14th/16th) Breaks started later - Everton, Palace, Watford, Brighton, Sheff Utd, Bournemouth, West Ham, Man City (break 9th/10th-22nd/23rd) Normal staff rota resumes at the end of Feb.
