With all episodes being made available together? or The traditional one episode per week?
I bring this up because this morning I watched Ep 4 of the Outsider which has that slow pacing and convoluted mystery that I like, but I spent a lot of time trying to remember "the story so far..." since it is a "one Episodw per week" show
I much prefer to binge-watch shows or at least have that option. Back in the day, I, like many other people, used to record episodes until a season finished then go to ground for a few days and binge-watch it. The trouble with that was that inevitably, someone told you or perhaps you overhead a conversation that gave plot points away.
Which does the board prefer?

I love The Outsider. I prefer the slow burn of week-to-week, it gives you time to digest everything and talk about each episode with other fans. Break things down, speculate on what's coming up, etc. Binge watching ruins the experience of episodic television in my opinion. Two episodes, ok, that's like watching a movie. But I don't have 12 hours to binge watch a season (even over 2 days), and realistically I couldn't sit that long in front of a screen, anyway.

For TV shows that have a season-long arc, I suppose I prefer to have all the episodes available at once, and then watch them over a week or two. If I watch one episode a week I will inevitably forget important details about what happened in the beginning by the time I get to the second half. On the other hand, really binge-watching it, as in watching the whole thing over a single weekend, is not very good either for me - it leaves me no time to process and it ends up all blurring together.

On a tv
Usually a bunch of eps together. Am currently recording all the Outsider eps and will watch them during a horrid international football break weekend in the future. Will watch season 3 of True Detective during the mini horrid footballess weekend coming up

Been a binge watcher for years now and love it. Nothing better than immersing yourself in a good few hours of quality telly. However, I made a deliberate choice to watch watchmen more traditionally and I really enjoyed the experience. I can understand you forgetting "the story so far" while watching weekly but I got around this with Watchmen by watching the previous episode again just prior to the new weekly one. It gave me an increased appreciation of the work itself (each episode was better the second time round) and gets you in the zone for a new episode.

Either one a day, two or three if I'm obsessed, or every two or three days.
Half-hour shows are easier to watch several at a time, obviously.

The most I've ever "binged" of a series is two episodes, and that is, in almost all cases, situations where I'm watching the second-to-last and last episode of a season. I don't know how people watch eight episodes of a show in a row. I'm hardly a fitness buff, but I'd be jumping out of my skin if I watched television that long in a row. Even for football Saturdays or Sundays, I have to be doing other things (like laundry) or I start hating myself.
