Crazies. Kids look frozen in terror. It's a really bad time for Coach K. I don't think people understand that he loved Kobe and vice versa.

A nice thing about Nike's devotion to self-promotion is one text and these warmup shirts appear for Duke and Pitt players to wear before the game and while on the bench:
Duke players paid their own tribute:
as did student fans with Jerseys and face paint:

Coach K, wearing the Kobe memorial shirt, talks about the past couple of days in postgame press conference:
#14 Jordan Goldwire, #2 Cassius Stanley and #3 Tre Jones (who had 8 assists) interview each other postgame and are all around awesome, good-hearted kids:

K misheard the Crazies. They were chanting “Jeff, come sit with us.” And he thought they were chanting something else. Capel, Along with Wojo and Grayson, was one in the CC’s favorite players

Capel, Along with Wojo and Grayson, was one in the CC’s favorite players Yeah, noooo, it's a long-time chant of Cameron Crazies; any former player shows up coaching another team and the kids do it, and a lot of times the visiting coach/former Blue Devil then sits with them after the game. Coach K's going on 40 years of coaching at Duke. You know how many former players have been in Cameron as opposition coaches in his years? You know how smart and observant Coach K is? You know how many millenial asshats are walking around Duke and are online right now all But you know he was a rapist, right?. It wasn't really about Jeff Capel at all.

I said they "do it, and a lot of times the visiting coach/former Blue Devil then sits with them after the game," and those are facts. I can't tell you to go to undergrad at Duke and find out, but I'm sure if you go to Twitter and read the comments to the tweet there, it'll be and education for you. Coach K yelled. Coach K apologized. Coach K suggested they stop doing that chant and do other ones instead. It's not confusing.

What don't you get? The man himself made a specific quote about misunderstanding the crowd's intent. Facts. It's not a big deal whether his judgment was clouded by the stress of Kobe or not. He says he misunderstood what they were doing, he apologized. I'm sure he's still beloved at Duke, so calm down already.

Coach K is a massive egomaniac douchebag. He’s a main reason why I hate Duke, along with their elitist, obnoxious fanbase.

Coach K is a massive egomaniac douchebag. He’s a main reason why I hate Duke, along with their elitist, obnoxious fanbase. Hate away. What's to like? He's been married to the same woman for 50 years, coached the same amazing program for 40 years, was a cadet at West Point and then served this country as an officer in the U.S. Army, for decades he's loved his players like they were the sons he never had and hands them careers with a bow on top by employing - as his coaching staff - the ones who don't play pro, coached Team USA to victory again and again and again and again and again... and then there's this: the friends he makes he has for life. You must be some judge of character, alright.

I've always been a Coach K fan, that's why I don't think it's a big deal that he misunderstood what the students were saying. He was sticking up for a former player, and when he realized he screwed up, he apologized. It's a non-story.
