How long does it last? And how long does the half-time intermission last in a regular season game? I suppose it must be much longer in the SuperBowl, in order to accommodate the half-time show, but isn't that detrimental to the game?
i think it's absolutely detrimental to the flow of the game and could be a huge momentum changer for a team that needs to completely come out of the tunnel like a new team. see Falcons 28 Pats 3 you're a tennis fan - imagine being up 2 sets to love and then you get a long rain delay gives the other player unneeded extra time to regroup Youβre not suggesting that the reason the Falcons blew it against the Patriots is because of the length of the halftime show, are you? I would think that idiotic coaching on the Falcons side had more to do with it.

Although I'm sure the extended time stoppage helped the Pats more than hurt and vice versa - i.e. hurt the Falcons more than helped. I'm pretty much grasping at straws over my disdain for the halftime show. It's a momentum swing for me the viewer as well - I have no interest of watching some teeny bopper or an aging rock band who look like a shell of their former selfs up there or incredibly bad lip syncing - the show is a trainwreck to me as a viewer - to each their own and I understand the Super Bowl is a party - but I'm shocked at the amount of guys who get geared up for this. Gimme a McGregor fight - or just give me some plain old analysis of the biggest game of the year. Not 90 year old Aerosmith up there or Justin Bieber - if I want to watch this horseshit I'll go to a concert - get me back to game action ASAP

Worst: LIV because we already know. JLo & Shakira, in 2020, really??
Best: XLIX because left shark ties the room together with Malcolm's pick for fun memory.

Think of an average mid-season game. Iβd wager that maybe 5% of those typical football fans likes the kind of music youβd see during the Super Bowl. So why have those acts there then? For the corporate crowd in the stadium and the fans beyond the normal viewing crowd (women, teenagers, old people) that like that shit. To me Prince was must-see viewing and a few others were decent but Iβm not into their typical performer choices. They either arenβt good or were good 15 years ago.

Best: none Worst: all Give me Grambling versus Southern's marching bands or GTFO. The last NFL game I went had frisbee dogs. Way better than marching bands.

Is there anybody else on this board who's a football fan but does not watch the halftime show - no matter who is performing? Never seen a single one. Iβm usually down the shops to get some lunch at halftime.

Iβm usually down the shops to get some lunch at halftime. That's why I'm shocked that's there's actual football fans who watch/get excited for this crap. As I and others have pointed out - I get it's a giant party and somebody correct me if I'm wrong - probably the most viewed TV show of the year - casual fans are tuning in - parties are being thrown, etc But for a hardcore football fan to care about this and not get aggravated it's disrupting the flow of the game? It's bad TV IMO - horrible lip syncing, awkward dancing, a performer(s) I have 0 interest in seeing. This is the biggest game of the year - as a hardcore football fan you get geared up for watching the Spice Girls sing a duet with Johnny Cash with the field being littered with confetti, gyrating dancers and the Michigan Wolverine marching band? This would be like watching JAWS and in the middle of the movie there's a 15 minute break with a cartoon in the middle of the movie. It's would like watching The Shining at the movies and in the middle there's a 15 minute break with infomercial for the Flow-Be.

Is there anybody else on this board who's a football fan but does not watch the halftime show - no matter who is performing? Me. I couldn't care less. They're all awful. I like u2 and Prince and didn't watch. The one this year sounds the worst.

Is there anybody else on this board who's a football fan but does not watch the halftime show - no matter who is performing? Yeah, I don't care for all the hype and the show itself. I am not a pop "music" fan. Wanna watch the game instead. So I leave the room when the act comes on if I'm watching the SB.

Best: none Worst: all Give me Grambling versus Southern's marching bands or GTFO. The salute to H.Wood is not my thing but it comes close to what I'd rather see. Bring back the marching bands.
