Richard was last seen in Avra Valley, Arizona on July 7, 1986. He disappeared with his grandfather, Roland Himebrook. They were reported missing by a friend of Himebrook's on July 12. Neither of them have been heard from again. Himebrook's vehicle, a 1966 Chevrolet El Camino, was found abandoned in the Silverbell area on September 27. There was no sign of him or Richard at the scene.
Richard's mother's live-in boyfriend is considered a possible suspect in the case. Richard was living with his grandfather because he'd run away from home. The boyfriend had reportedly had several confrontations with Himebrook and he was allegedly abusive to Richard, his sister and his mother.
There's been no indication of Richard's or his grandfather's whereabouts since 1986; their cases remain unsolved.
