Scottish band, been going for decades, and still turning out good material. Don't think they conquered America, though I may be wrong.

They conquered a good deal of 80s America via John Hughes.
Dude kept his voice in shape, too.

One of the first bands I got obsessed with. Their output up to an including Sparkle In The Rain is impressive, eclectic and underrated

Their big hit in North America was for the song "Don't You Forget About Me". It was featured as the theme in cult classic "The Breakfast Club".
They did have a few other minor hits, namely "Alive & Kicking" and "See The Lights".
I always got them confused with Simply Red.

Again, I promise I will be coming back to this thread later on, as I have just recently been going through most of their records, and it would be nice to discuss their music.

I saw Simple Minds in Austin Texas in 1986. We were 2nd row and they put on a heck of a show. They did Tour the U.S. a year or so ago.

Simple Minds had 5 Top 40 hits in the U.S. 6 Total in the top 100 on the Billboard charts. The most famous of them, "Don't You (Forget About Me)" from the movie 'The Breakfast Club' spent 22 weeks on the charts and hit #1.
