I was sitting there watching TV, Wendy came and sat on my knee. She put her finger in my ear, But I pulled it out so I could hear. The newsman on the television said, He said the king of pop was dead. And in the spooky television light, She said "Don't ever forget this night." I made love to Wendy under the stars, the night that Michael died
She was thirty-one, I was seventeen, I found out then what passion could mean. I thought I loved her, but I didn't know how, I don't love her when I see her now With speaker turned up loud, She made a young man feel strong and proud. And in the coolness of the morning light She said "Don't ever forget this night." I made love Wendy under the stars, the night that Michael died.

Heard it on the radio when the family gathered at my sister's house after my nephew's graduation from high school.

Didn't have enough of an impact on me to recall. I have some fond memories of listening to the Jackson 5 as a teen, thought Michael was a savvy showman as he grew up, and his unfortunate later life was, well, unfortunate. The encomiums praising him as some sort of consummate artist were overblown--he wasn't an artist in the sense of being a creator, he was a skilled performer--but honestly, his music did little for me as an adult; and considering all the weirdness he became embroiled in, I'm actually a little surprised he lived as long as he did.

I was at work, and upon seeing he had kicked, my first thought was "Fuck this shit, now all people are going to remember about this day is this pedo piece of shit instead of remembering Farrah, who fought cancer so bravely."

I had already heard that Farrah Fawcett died earlier that day of cancer. While I was working a man came out of a store & said to me, "Michael Jackson died." (I also remember where I was when Princess Diana died, almost 23 years ago.)

I was working a graveyard shift at a gas station. It was the middle of my shift, and I was feeling a little bummed about Michael and Farrah both dying on the same day.
My night got a lot better at around 2:30 when a woman named Wendy came to the station to get her tanked filled. We got to talking, and she mentioned how earlier that evening, she had a rather lackluster sexual encounter with some dopey teenager that she was counseling. We shared a few laughs at this dweebs expense, then I took her to the back room and made love to her until about 4:30 when the morning customers started showing up.
Wendy gave me one last passionate kiss, and then thanked me for making her forget the awful 35 seconds of lovemaking that she received from some 17 year old loser Michael Jackson fan. 😉👍

I thought this tread was supposed to be about where we were when we learned that MJ died?!?!

I was kind of a night owl back in those days so I slept through the news. I got to the club around midnight and the DJ was playing nothing but MJ tracks in memoriam.
Sex was the furthest thing from my mind...until about 5am when everyone was leaving, and I met this chick named Wendy outside who was waiting to pickup her girlfriend. She looked like she'd had a pretty long night so I offered to take her and her girlfriend for a little breakfast at Denny's, then about 6:30 we all went back to her place and had a threesome. It was pretty sweet, except for the fact that Wendy smelled like gasoline and her vagina looked like the inside out baboon from The Fly.

Nope. I think I must've been at home because I've zero recollection of talking about it at work immediately.

I was grieving over Farrah and was watching 1st season CA reruns, I think I must gotten up to the 5th or 6th episode ("Target: Angels" or "The Killing Kind") when I heard about Michael Jackson. I was kind of shocked when I heard about MJ - King of Pop and everything, but my heart belongs to Farrah. I was definitely in the Farrah camp that day.

Yeah and I heard her mother got passed around the night that Elvis Presley died, so it must run in the family.

I recall being shocked by the news, but I don't recall how it was delivered nor where I was at the time.
