Rent is just too damn high these days. how do people have money to spend on other things if their whole paycheck goes to rent and probably their car. obviously things are different per area but just judging by the same areas and how things were 10 years ago compared to today man it's insane.

Yeah, I think the OP is onto something but people are getting greedier and society pays the price.
because while I get stuff increases in price some, it should not be that much in 10 years or so time. housing is just too expensive in general as I heard back in the old days housing was a lot more affordable then it is nowadays to where you did not spend pretty much your entire life paying it off etc.

And it used to be that the further away you lived from a city, the better the rent prices. Not anymore!
But to hear some people talk about it the economy is doing gangbusters. I don't know. I haven't seen the increase in my wallet. Only in my expenses.

Just buy your own house, then you'll never have to pay rent again. Yeah, only mortgage and taxes and all the related bills. No rent. Still worth it. I bought my house 5 years ago. At the time, my mortgage payment was the same as my rent were I lived before. 5 years later, the rent at that same place is $400 more a month, but my mortgage is still the same....

You're right, of course. At the end of the day its yours and you can re-sell. Its really the only sound investment. Even cars depreciate as soon as you buy them.

I was looking into renting a home and the rent for the house alone would cost most of my paycheck for the month.

Wake up, kids. Real wages have been stagnant against spiraling costs of living for decades now.
The administration that actually takes effective and immediate measures against this will have accomplished nothing short of a miracle, which is one reason none of them, D or R, have attempted it.
