I must admit to being a big fan of this group. Loved the videos, and the songs, just hit the right notes as I was in my twenties looking for something a bit different.

Only saw this a couple years ago on a retro show. He could work a stage (or three) alright. It's his TOTP performance of one of the numbers above. When miming is a blast to watch.

I actually think they were better as a bright and brash pop group than the more muso-cred earlier years. "Strip" and "Puss n Boots" are a step too far though. My pick for most underrated Ants track is this:

Interesting musical connections though. Ants' main songwriter/guitarist Marco Pirroni was making a noise like this prior to pop stardom:
Also, Adam and the Ants and The Monochrome Set both formed from the ashes of the same band, The B-sides, and hence recorded the same song:

I generally like the first four efforts from Adam, w/and sans "Ants" (Dirk Wears White Sox (1979), Kings of the Wild Frontier (1980), Prince Charming (1981), Friend or Foe (1982) )..His issue arrived with the success of "Goody Two Shoes", a pithy, jaunty larf which stuck a chord and did well. Seems an exec somewhere saw this chart success and told Adam to lean heavier into the "Sexy", producing the infamous 'Strip' album. "Puss 'n Boots" "Strip" and "Playboy" taking what worked with Goody and amping it up, making it quite ridiculous..The rest was desperately trying to find a reinvention that worked (Vive Le Rock (1985), Manners & Physique (1990), Wonderful (1995))..None did..
