Nerds, geeks, painfully shy people and just misanthropes in general are waking up to a Utopia. Everybody is staying home. It is expected that you will NOT go out of your home and interact with other people. Staying home on your computer debating how low Doctor Who has fallen or which Star Wars movie is the worst - or in my case, watching movies at home - is now normal behavior. Personally that has always been my plan for life and retirement. The future is here.

Catman this morning received email from the gas utility indicating that when on service calls, workers would maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from customers.

We're having a rainy weekend, so I can enjoy my solitude without it looking like I'm fearful of going out.

Yessssss. It's like a blind man in a world gone dark. Or a bird who's lost its wings in a world where all the birds just died.

The more you teach sheep how to be herded, the easier it becomes.

I always thought I was one of those people myself, but I'm already sick of this lock-down. We are having really fine weather here where I live, theoretically the conditions would be ideal to go out and have some fun.
I realised that to quote Al Pacino: I'm a fun-loving depressive.
I like to enjoy life and I like to go out whenever I want. I'm like a cat, I need a lot of free space where I can roam.

I don't mind staying home, but I prefer to go out on the weekends.

I'm cool with it. I always hate when I'm sitting in on a Saturday night and I can hear small groups of people walking up to the local bars - then loudly coming back late in the night with a bunch of drunk strangers for hookups. Bonus points for them usually being sports fans and that is now gone too. I've basically been on quarantine for the past year+ now that my best friends have moved out of state and my dog saw his final days peacefully at home. But odd thing is, I could spend a full three-day weekend inside and think nothing of it. On corona-related quarantine officially, and a day and a half goes by, and I'm envisioning my little downtown area to be something between a Dawn of the Dead and Children of the Corn. It's still Evening of the Hipsters though. They just have nothing to do. I feel bad for the bar and restaurant owners and employees. I can only hope this clears up and things bounce back, and people are a little bit more appreciative if that happens. Current Mood:

I fucking hate buzz words. "Body positivity", "shaming", "social distancing" - fucking talk like an adult. Stop talking like 20 something year old white girls. Can't we just tell people to limit contact? Christ, we speak like a bunch of morons anymore and then the rest of the population latch onto it like a bunch of fucking zombies.

The monthly comic folk meet-up that I attend has been put on hold so I’ve lost at least one social event. One of the organisers took himself off social media last year so he’s now even more social distanced.
