Scottish band who certainly believed in taking their time in releasing stuff, about 5 years between albums on average . Very pleasant easy listening style with a pop production and nice original lyrics.

I'm a giant fan. Super clean sound, minimalist perfection. A shame about their output.

Scottish band who certainly believed in taking their time in releasing stuff, about 5 years between albums on average . Very pleasant easy listening style with a pop production and nice original lyrics. It seems like you have posted or started a new thread to almost every one of my favorite acts in here , and The Blue Nile is one of those I only got to know less than two years ago, but of course having heard about them being quite often during discussions or topics where other big favorite artists of mine, such as Talk Talk, XTC, Prefab Sprout or other highly original and creative british musicians were talked about. Anyway, I started up with A Walk Across The Rooftop (1984), and that was it. It pretty much had the same impact on me, from the very first listen, to that of Talk Talk and their Spirit of Eden (1988). Albums which "takes you" to certain places, and never let go. It sounded like nothing else, and I soon purchased Hats (1989) a while later, but that one actually did not make me a fan right away, I felt some of the production was a bit too "heavy" compared to softer and warmer sounds of their first album. However, I was not gonna give up, and not "forcing" myself upon it, but it had to come naturally, so I waited a while, and one day, it just said "click" and there you had it, two fantastic albums in a row, and sadly I have still not continued to look up any of their other releases, but I will do so in time.
