Does it really matter much? Yes. He's about to show up on Gotham. And as soon as he or someone else says his name, conversation about this is going to reignite. OK, he's been on Arrow, but the pronunciation there is inconsistent and way more people watch Gotham. It's not the same as aunt (not pronounced like the insect) because Ra's al Ghul is a proper noun, meaning it has a right pronunciation.

There doesn't seem to be any definitely "correct" pronunciation anyway.

How can you say there's no definite correct way? Did you read this thread? Creators Julius Schwartz and Dennis O'Neil say it's Reysh despite its Arabic roots, and because of the Hebrew word 'rosh' for head and that word is spelled with a ' resh' (20th letter of Hebrew alphabet, assumed to come from a pictogram of a head). Besides, it's a proper noun, that's more important than its roots. The first time the character's name was spoken in production was in the Batman: The Animated Series episode 'The Demon's Quest' which was written by Dennis O'Neil. As co-creator, he got to set the precedent. Ra's and Batman both pronounced it Reysh in that series. O'Neil was the original writer of the character, meaning everytime his name appeared in a speech bubble, writer O'Neil was thinking 'Reysh.' The whole Rahs thing is the result of Nolan/Goyer not doing adequate research. If either of them, when making Batman Begins, had thought 'Maybe we should call the character's creator and ask him how it's pronounced!' they would have been told Reysh.

It's the name of a fictional villain. You're taking it too seriously.

I'm going to keep saying Rozz if that's cool. I notice a lot of people are quite stubborn on this issue. They're like, 'Ah I don't care what the creators say, what the first actor to play the character said, what THE voice of Bruce Wayne says, I first heard it this other way and I'm sticking to it because my mind is just that inflexible!' "I don't care" being the key words

"I don't care" being the key words Apathy is a shitty reason. In the context of what I said, it's just an arbitrary, ad hoc excuse to ignore what should be considered good reasons to change one's mind. Apathy caused by laziness.

Listen I'm sorry if it bothers you, but I'm going by the film because it's the only thing I care about. The cartoon doesn't exist to me, so I'm not going to use that pronunciation. Deal with it however must.

I don't play a whole lot tbh, but will play things like the Last of Us, Watchdogs, some horror survival stuff, and I've played a few Assassin's Creed titles.

If you like Batman movies, Watch Dogs, and Assassin's Creed, you will almost certainly like the Batman: Arkham series. The consensus is City > Asylum > Knight > Origins. Asylum is fairly linear, the 3 others fairly open-world. Origin's story has basically nothing to do with the other 3 which do share a continuity. Knight is ginormous...the city is huge, there's a shitload of side stuff, lots of driving/fighting with the Batmobile. More on-topic, Reysh al Ghul appears in City and in Knight's DLC. Give Aslyum a shot.

I like the other games that play around in real cities, or near real cities, but like I said I spend very little time with these, and I know I won't get invested in it. I just had 4 days off and spent zero minutes on video games. It's just not a thing for me.

I should have said contemporary cities, and Gotham is definitely not portrayed as a literal interpretation of New York. Do I really need to go into detail as to why I have no interest in the game, or can you just accept that I don't?

You're gonna need to go into detail. If you didn't like Batman, fine. If you didn't like 3rd person action games, fine. But liking Batman and Assassin's Creed is a recipe for liking Batman: Arkham. I think you're just closed to it because I recommended it and we're at odds over Reysh al Ghul. It would be odd to argue with someone over something like pronunciation of a fictional character and then say 'Thanks for the recommendation I'll try it!'

I have no plans to play the game, and his name is Rozz as far as I care. But I'm totally cool with you using the cartoon version. I don't think I have anything more to say. Enjoy your time here, I'm sure I'll see you around.

There is no logic behind liking Batman + Assassin's Creed but refusing to try Batman: Arkham. I, and others here, will just assume I'm right, that you can't handle accepting a recommendation by someone you have argued with. It's a major internal conflict.
