There are protected sight lines to prevent certain building prom being obscured. Great idea but if only it had been thought of earlier. I certainly hope money doesn't win out over beauty as it has in so much of England. Thanks for posting the video.

Until 1965, Ottawa would not allow any structure taller than Parliament Hill's Peace Tower. I think there's now 7 taller structures, albeit set out from The Hill no not to obstruct or dominate.

Until 1965, Ottawa would not allow any structure taller than Parliament Hill's Peace Tower. I think there's now 7 taller structures, albeit set out from The Hill no not to obstruct or dominate. I just had a look at Ottawa on Google Earth. I like that canal running next to the building.

I just had a look at Ottawa on Google Earth. I like that canal running next to the building. My grandparents lived there, mom born & raised there. I'm pretty sure that Rideau Canal was built in the early 1830's in case of war with America. Rideau of course French for curtains - which the Rideau River's falls into the Ottawa River visually suggested. That building to the right I think used to be a railway station, way long ago, which you can't unsee with that flat land & architecture.
