Great movie even though it is dark and depressing and it ends that way.
With the way the earth and humanity is, the collapse of governments with nothing but a bleak and hopeless future are they sure they want humans to keep on breeding? It would be better for the species to die off and start over again and maybe, huge maybe, we would get it right the next time around.
What was wrong with Jasper's wife? Dementia or was it something psychological related.
One of the saddest parts of the movie is when Jasper sends them away because we know that he knows that he will not live. Anyone else like him and sad that he was killed?
Now I can understand why Jasper killed his wife. But the dog? C'mon. Let the dog have a chance!
How did the Fishes figure out where he was?
Feel free to answer any of the questions, leave comments to mine or your own or any other discussions you wish to have on this movie.

Such a dumb movie. No offense to those who like it, because it's really well-made, some of the cinematography is spectacular. It doesn't make any sense though. Why would an aging society collapse and succumb to chaos?
In reality it's actually the other way around. The most violent societies are the youngest ones. The relative peacefulness of the Western world is the result of radically declining fertility rates.
Most of the war and violence we experience has its source in the fight for resources. Whether its energy or money or simple living space, the more people the more conflicts.
It is far more likely that in a situation as depicted in the movie people would live out their lives in peace and try to enjoy their remaining time on earth instead of causing havoc and burning everything down.
