probably biggest possible indication of where Al Pacino could've gone career wise if he didn't do so many crime movies, perhaps an uniquely talented possible actor in indie movies.

Pacino is fine but Hackman wipes the floor with him here IMO.

Eh, he'd probably be seen as a poor man's Dustin Hoffman. You may be right, but perhaps it could've opened up potentially other avenues of interest where he goes the way of Keitel in working with first time directors and sort of mixing it up more between movies.

I like this movie. Jerry Schatzberg floated the idea of making a sequel.
