I went to Germany in 2001, Shortly before the September 11 attacks happened, and I remember eating at this place that had the best Turkish baklava. Germany is home to many immigrants who come from Turkey to open up small businesses, much like Chinese and Latinos in the States. Turkey is known for a delicacy called baklava. Have you ever tried it? I recently found out the original location I had been to is no longer there. I thought it had closed, but it only moved to a much better space. If you're ever in Germany, check out this place. The owners are really nice and they're struggling right now due to the virus. This is the original location of Sonmez Baklava, on Oranienstraße, which opened in 1973 and closed down in the mid-2000s. This was in a run-down part of down. You can note the graffiti on the security shutters. New location of Sonmez Baklava, on Turmstraße. It's much nicer building and in a higher income area. This particular location used to be a Commerce Bank (in Germany, Commerzbank) and moved to a smaller rent space to the right. I'm glad to see the owners are doing well. This has been in four generations already.
