Fantastic Four (2005):I rate it a 5/10. I don't hate this film, but I didn't really like it either and I actually like Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer (2007) better as I found the second film a lot less offensively bad as the first Tim Story outing and I can laugh at it's crappiness, whereas the first Tim Story film seriously tries to pretend to be a good movie.

5/10
I hate Rise of the Silver Surfer because it focuses on action and the action is the worst aspect of the first movie. Galactus is a fucking cloud and Doctor Doom is terrible in these movies. The reason I don't hate the first movie is because it is just dumb fun to a certain extent, whereas the second takes itself a lot more seriously and becomes a complete bore because of that. The action scenes are as generic as I have ever seen. Silver Surfer is the only thing I like about the movie.

7/10 - I don't know why this movie gets so much hate. I enjoyed it as well as the sequel.

But at least the second film the visual aweness of the Silver Surfer and Jessica Alba's Sue Storm was even hotter and I found her a lot more likeable in the second film. It helps that I went into the second film not expecting a whole lot after being disappointed with the first film and at it least it's acknowledges it crappiness and doesn't apologize for it.

I already said that Silver Surfer is cool. The first movie is also aware it isn't a good movie and does it much better imo.

6/10. It's pretty average for a superhero film, but I like it more than most people do. The cast was likable, but Doctor Doom was a letdown and he was defeated way too easily near the end.

FANTASTIC FOUR may not be serious like most of the other superhero movies of the time were, but it's fun and funny and the 4 actors have great chemistry with each other. There aren’t a lot of action sequences, but I didn’t mind because it’s an origin story. 7/10 FANTASTIC FOUR PART 2: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER has a more epic feel than its predecessor, but it still balances it well with the humour. It also has more action sequences and cool new characters, but I felt that SUE STORM/THE INVISIBLE WOMAN lost all of her development from the 1st installment. Not to mention that her wig and contacts are too distracting. And not in a "She looks so hot that, if I saw her walking while I was driving, I would step on the brakes regardless of the accidents I'd probably cause" way. 7/10 FANTASTIC FOUR 2015's visual style (and marketing) suggested that it was going to be a dark adaptation. I was shocked while watching it because of the constant self-aware humour. It felt like it was meant to be a comedy with serious moments (like the M.C.U. movies) instead of a drama. I assumed that it was because director Josh Trank didn't understand the script, but the end credits showed that he co-wrote it. Miles Teller, editors Elliot Greenberg and Stephen E. Rivkin and music score composers Marco Beltrami and Philip Glass were clearly as confused as I was. The way REED RICHARDS/MR. FANTASTIC delivers some witty lines without a smile or a voice tone that suggests deadpan humour, the way a scene cuts to another after ending with a gag, the way the "We can make it" speech is surrounded by an inspiring melody (even though the characters are drunk), etc... I'm glad that the movie doesn't have any pseudo-philosophical monologues (like most DARK KNIGHT trilogy copycats), but it has a worse problem: The conversations sound deep when they really aren't. Even if the tone had been clear, it still wouldn't be a good movie. Kate Mara's performance is lifeless, the characters are underdeveloped and the final fight isn't exciting nor creative. The plot may not be boring but it's very generic. Actually, it would've been in 2005 too. Speaking of, say what you want about the previous installments, but they didn't have the following problems: 1) While the title characters interact with one another, the 4 are rarely shown together. 2) It takes over an hour for VICTOR VON DOOM to become DR. DOOM. 3) There are very few locations for a superhero movie. 4) The catch-phrases "Flame on!" and "It's clobbering time!" are uttered as if they're not cheesy. 3/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.

Very middling movie. Doesn't do justice to the characters or the classic Lee/Kirby comic stories. The only thing they got right was the casting for Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm, and the chemistry between those two characters.
