I am going to cop out straight away and say that I don't have one. If the period is well described then I am interested. It is a bit like A J P Taylor's broadcasts. He would walk into the studio, look at the camera and say, "Tonight I thought we would discuss the Piedmont Hegemony" And I, along with millions of other Brits would think Piedmont, is that some sort of Italian bootmaker? But it did not matter because by then Taylor was ambling through his subject with us trailing faithfully behind.
Anyway, what is your favourite period?

Nothing specific either, though I'm always fascinated with history directly leading up to, & subsequently immediately following, major wars, conflicts, &/or societal revolution (including natural disaster, disease, etc).
What ppl were doing & thinking right before their world collapsed. What ppl were doing & thinking right after the worst, to rebound.

I like the classical antiquity period, middle ages and the first half of the 20th century.

Has there ever been a time in history when people lived their lives in the countryside without fear of being made a slave or servant to someone? If so, then that's it. Barring the above, probably antiquity.

Ancient Rome. I'm not sure I would want to live in that era, but I enjoy reading about it.
