Hard to imagine we're at the point where movies released in 2000 are 20 years old. American Psycho celebrates its anniversary today. It's been a long time since I've seen it - I'll have to remedy that soon. Curiously, despite all the violence, I remember being most disturbed by the scene where Bale kicks and abuses the homeless dude. Any fans?

Every 5 years or so I get the itch to watch it again. Bale's great in it. I wonder if the same movie could be made today.

It's the very definition of 'toxic masculinity,' even if that was the point. Personally, I'm still a fan. This film was my introduction to Christian Bale, and he's become one of my favorite actors.

Both he and Rosamund Pike were great in Hostiles, despite the film itself being so bleak and uninspiring.

I never would have seen it but for happening upon it once. After ten minutes or so I thought, Wait, is this a dark comedy? And it is a very dark look at sociopathy in the business world. The scene of the guys showing off their cards is a riot.

Damn good film and of course Bale was sensational as Patrick Bateman. I remember back in the day, the studio exes wanted Dicaprio in that role and imo would have been such a bad choice as Leo looked like a weak teenager back then lol. Bale looked the part. Highly doubt they would be allowed to make this film today.
8/10

Huge fan of the book. The movie doesn't live up to it, but Bale was perfectly cast as Bateman.

Thumbs Down I never seen the appeal of that movie as something like Mr Brooks (2007) with Kevin Costner is much better. onethreetwoI would say Hostiles is his best performance, or especially performance/movie quality combo. but The Fighter feels a bit over-the-top. p.s. but his best movie, at least for me, straight up are.. Hostiles/Ford v Ferrari (which happen to be my #1 movie in each of their respective years (i.e. 2018/2019)). those are the only two that stand out in my book when it comes to Bale's filmography.

Bateman Begins. He also kills future Joker.
