I am spending much more on groceries since I am shopping less often.
On Monday I spent $300. Usually I spend $50 or less and go every few days But I had not shopped in 17 days.
How has your shopping experience changed?

Last time I was in a store was a month ago, prepping for this. $129 at Trader Joe's, where I'd never spent more than about $70 in the many years I've gone.
Since then, 2 deliveries. $137 (Costco) and $46 (H-E-B), but includes tip. And Pet food wasn't included.

I went to Winn-Dixie this morning for senior hour (7 am-8 am) and I spent $55. I went to a senior hour at Walmart. There were lots of people. I noticed when I left around 7:30 the parking lot was only about a fourth full. Since then I have been shopping right after the senior hour. True some stuff may be low but there is hardly anyone shopping. Lol

Our prices are higher than in the US, so anyway I shop for hubby and I and our son acts as my chauffeur and muscles and I pay for his groceries (there is only him and he is a careful shopper). We go to at least 3 grocery stores. So lately I'm spending about $300.00 every monday. We can afford him, as he is on disability and he helps us in anyway we need.

Spent $225 at Walmart-but it was for our household & our bakery. Went Sunday right at 7am-they were counting, but there were only 10 of in line. I would rather go to Pick & Save but they have senior hours 6-8 everyday. Not quite a senior, & keep telling my brothers I should send them. Though when I do go at 8am, that's when a huge bunch of seniors come in...

Just got back from spending $127 at Shoprite,a bit more than normal.Stocked up on some stuff, toilet paper, paper towels. The thing that struck me,once again, was a completely empty cereal aisle,no butter or fake butter, lots of empty aisles. And,an armed guard! First time I ever saw one at a supermarket.I talked to him for a bit and he was also kinda surprised, saying it was the first time in decades of this that he did a supermarket.

I bow to your shopping abilities WKM I can't get the knack of bread and milk for more than a couple of weeks. Good job I will run out of WKD's chocolate milk tomorrow, I have a package of hamburger buns in the freezer, we will just do without these things and other things like fresh fruit, vegetables and salad until May 1st. We have plenty of meat, frozen veggies, sherbet , Hershey bars, Nestle Crunch bars (these last 3 items are for WKD only), Progresso soup, crackers, cheese and frozen pizza. We are so much luckier than so many people who only have a day's worth of food. I hate grocery shopping so long before this virus took hold, I've always had a packed freezer plus I get a monthly delivery from Schwan's. I really don't have great shopping abilities. My chief worry is to not run out of cat food for my 7 wicked kitties and the feral cats I feed. I keep putting orders in to Chewy so I get some deliveries every week, they are about 10 days behind on their orders. p.s. I am really craving a big, fresh, green salad.

My husband and I felt like you: if we run out of something we will eat other things. But I have a disabled daughter and can't do that with her. I am proud of you!

First time at a grocery since February.
Whole Foods senior entry at 7 am. Used my new mask (we are required to wear them). Few people in the store, one-directional aisles. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Total damage $167.53

Thank you enigma, I hope your daughter comes through all this ok. I think most of us middle class Americans are spoiled when it comes to food - now the real test is coming. Its a shame how much food & milk & crops are being destroyed because the people producing the stuff are not set up to redistribute to food banks and small neighborhood stores because they sold to restaurants and schools.
