What brand do you like? I bought the Walmart Great Value brand and it's almost too crunchy. You don't really spread it. You more manipulate it like a chunky clay. Okay that's a little dramatic. It can be spread, but not easily. And you need a sturdy, thick bread to do so. Are all crunchy peanut butter brands like this? Are they more crunchy now than they were back in the day, or have they always been this way?

I usually get Peter Pan crunchy. It's very thick, but spreadable.

No one has mentioned Skippy. Lol
My college roommate hated skippy. The other roommate and I argued skippy was the best. So she had us take a blind test.
She was right None of us liked skippy best.
It seemed oily

Trader Joe's Crunchy Unsalted. Just opened some, yum.
Ingredients: Unblanched dry roasted peanuts.
I store it upside down open or closed, since the oil rises. Easier to mix.
The big brand name peanut butters are trash.

Usually the Best Choice brand, but have also used Skippy. Don't like my PB very sweet.

Have been making my own in the Cuisinart. Salted roasted shelled peanuts ... a bit of salt, a little oil, and some honey or sugar or brown sugar for a touch of sweetness. Can use other sweeteners.
Lots of recipes on line.
REALLY easy and you can make it just as you like it from fresh ingredients. For crunchy, you take out some of the chopped nuts and add them back when it's finished and about to go into the jar.
Store bought: JIF or Skippy !
