To anyone who's seen Deliverance (1972), if I say Burt Reynolds and "leg bone", you know EXACTLY what I'm referring to..... Btw, I looked all over, and though I'm guessing it may be out there somewhere, I could not find ONE image or video of the "broken leg" (actually, a (supposed) lamb bone) scene(s), anywhere...... Anybody have any other movies with scenes VERY difficult, if not impossible to watch ?? SAVE FERRIS

I was watching Robocop 2 and I had to actually turn away during the scene where they are cutting open Cain’s head

Irreversible has an infamously brutal rape scene.

The electroshock treatment scene from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
Btw, I can think of a more disturbing scene from Deliverance than the leg bone scene.

Donnie Brasco (1997) when they are sawing into the leg and other body parts.

The Evil That Men Do - The torture scenes. Marathon Man - Dental torture. The Tin Drum - The rotting horse head used for catching eels. Also, the gang rape scene is difficult to watch.

The scene I find most disturbing in Donnie Brasco is when they beat up the Japanese waiter, especially since Brasco did not want it to happen, but had to get a distraction so his wire wasn't revealed.
Caligula--that is full of awful scenes.
The Devils--when they torture Oliver Reed with the leg crushing device.

Bone Tomahawk has one of the most brutally/disgusting/disturbing death scenes ever put on film imo. Damn good film too!

Not much is worth mentioning because, at least from what I have seen, the vast majority of violence is done in a way that feels more over-the-top and not done in a way that truly bothers you. but in terms of violence in a movie that did noticeably bother me (like I can remember it noticeably bothering me which is surprising as that pretty much done happen for me), at least back when I first saw them, which was around the time they were released on video... -Hostel (2005) -Hostel: Part II (2007) (but only the female-slashing-female scene. the rest of the movie did not bother me at all.) I think the key thing here in the topic is our own perceptions of violence in movies getting close enough to truly evil in how it's portrayed/tone of the movie etc. which I suspect varies a bit from person-to-person. shannondegrootTo me that scene is not done/portrayed in a way that bothers me. like in real life you can easily see how it would be bad and Depp's characters reaction to it etc. but strictly from a viewer point of view, like those of us watching the movie, it's not really done in a way that's much different from typical violence variations in movies in my opinion. p.s. but at the same time I am not surprised what bothers some might not bother the next person and so on since people are different. plus, I suspect the more one is exposed to violence in movies the more desensitized they become to it etc.

I’ve also seen Salo, Martyrs and all of those "disturbing" movies, but the scene I mentioned is one of the only scenes that I had a hard time watching.
