And would it bother you that your partner will have to sit one or two seats away from you?

I would go and I’d prefer a couple seats of spacing anyhow.

Whether I go back depends on several factors: (1) The relative position of the pandemic--i.e., how flat is the curve? (2) My general health and that of my housemates (obviously, if any of us have--or test positive for--Covid, we ain't goin' nowhere!) (3) How much money I can spare (4) The quality and availability of the movies then playing Frankly, it's hard for me to imagine what it will be like to go back to something as "normal" as going out to a movie...but we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Maybe this would be a good time to stage a revival of drive-in theaters. If each family/party sat in its own car, and every two cars were separated by a 6-ft minimum--and remember, the cars would not be parked in an enclosed, crowded space--now, that I would definitely be willing to leave my house for! UPDATE: I just discovered (through the wonders of Google) that there are over a dozen drive-in theaters within fifty miles of my current location. I guess I shouldn't have been so surprised...this is Southern California, after all.

I have not been to the theaters since Oct 28th 2011. so I doubt I would get to the theaters straight up regardless of the virus. or let me put it another way... if I went to the theaters somewhat regularly, I would still continue doing it as soon as possible. those who don't are letting their fear (which is overblown by the media etc) run their lives as it does not make sense to be THAT afraid of something that probably has less than a 1% chance (maybe 2-4% MAX) to kill you.
like others have mentioned before... life is full of risks in general and we take them everyday. like for example... driving a vehicle. there is always a chance you could crash and get seriously injured or die. but we feel the risk is low enough not to worry about it, which is basically like this virus is. so unless your in bad health in general, there is a pretty damn good chance you will be fine. but if your already in bad health, your time on earth is likely limited anyways.
How does that make any sense? ; because if your living with someone you will be in close contact on general, so there is pretty much no point in having them sit 6 feet apart in a theater.
on a bit of a side note... you see people claiming wash your hands often and disinfect stuff in the house etc which when you think about it is largely unnecessary. because the virus ain't going to magically appear in your house unless you did something to bring it in there in the first place (even if you did, it does not live forever on surfaces either) and once you wash your hands, assuming your house is good, which it likely is, the virus ain't going to magically get onto your hands. so when it comes to hand washing... I just do what I generally have done for a quite sometime now is wash them here and there throughout the day, like before eating (sometimes after depending on whether ones hands are gummed up a bit from ones food) etc as this way if someone touches their face etc, chances are they will be fine.
but you can see the media etc are telling people to disinfect and wash hands TOO often has got people obsessed with buying up all of the soap and cleaners etc which screws over many people who just want to buy some soap and use like they have been since it's all pretty much sold out.

The odds of dying in a car crash are about 1 in 106. The death rate from coronavirus right now in the US is 1 in 18. So the death rate of the latter is about 6x higher than the odds of dying in a car crash. Cars also have very real practical benefits on numerous levels, while stuff like going to the cinema is frivolous by comparison. Plus, as has been said, it's not just about YOUR health when it comes to CV, but everyone you could potentially spread it to, which means everyone you'd encounter at home and in public, including those theaters. Plus, if everyone takes your advice and risks it, and the cases spike (which they would), that will overwhelm the medical industry who then won't be able to adequately take care of all the patients, raising the probability of dying from it even higher. Of course, you've been brainwashed by the lying idiots in the far-right media who prefer their feelings to the scientific facts, so I don't expect you to know/understand any of this.

Eva Yojimbo Your missing the point... car accident or COVID-19, the odds of dying from either is low enough not to be a real concern for the vast majority of people. you really THAT worried about a virus that only has a small chance to kill someone? also, that 1/18 death rate (which is 5.6%) is exaggerated as it's safe to say many more people have caught it that do not register in the statistics which basically makes the real death rate percentage much lower. I don't think anyone can dispute this as the only question is... how many more people have caught it vs what they actually measured so far as it could be a little bit but it could be a lot more. chances are it's quite a bit more than what they officially counted. hence, the real death rate percentage is quite a bit less. But so far they have been wrong a lot on their data (so it's not like they have reliable data to base their choices on which makes it more opinion than hard facts). in the real world things have been far less than they predicted with death rates. the left often lies and you rarely get the truth from the mainstream media in general. keep in mind when I said distancing I was specifically referring to a person your living with as it's pointless to distance oneself in a theater if your living with that person (because if either of you had it, the other already has a high enough chance to get it since your living with them). I can understand trying to avoid others and all to some degree though but it's not worth obsessing over it. also, I get they don't want medical industry to be overwhelmed and all but so far it's not even been close to being overwhelmed nationally. I am confident the virus is not as bad as the mainstream media makes it out to be when is all said and done. some claim the real death rate could be 0.xx%. if that's even close to being true then the virus is FAR overblown. because the 5.6% does not take into account the many others who likely contracted COVID-19 as when you factor these in, of which there are likely many of them, that 5.6% declines quite a bit. so I think even being generous the death rate is probably no more than 2-4% TOPS. The left are the ones who base stuff more on feelings than science etc in general. hell, some seem to think one can choose their own gender even though it's set by nature. it's pure insanity. or those types who let biological males compete in female sports. it just ruins female sports since it's basically a male competing in a female sport and everyone knows males are stronger/faster. but the left prefers their insane politics over common sense.
