I'm doing a rewatch during this crisis, and also watching a lot of fan commentaries/reviews on Youtube. While there are many valid criticisms of verious aspects of the franchise, there are some repeated stupid criticisms that are widespread. Let me give you this example of a criticism of the prequels:
"The prequels retroactively make the skepticism of both Han Solo and Motti (in ANH) towards the Jedi and their powers look completely nonsensical. Both men were alive and at least in their teens when the Jedi fought in the Clone Wars and were hailed as the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy. Solo and Motti treating the Jedi and the Force like an ancient superstition is the equivalent of a man in his thirties in 1960 having doubts about the existence of the Nazis."
The last sentence in bold is the dumbest part, as both characters clearly acknowledge the existence of the Jedi. They just think the stories of their powers and the Force are bullshit.
The best part is that this criticism has nothing to do with the prequels. This timeline is set in the 77 film. According to the 77 movie, the Jedi were hunted down by Vader and Luke's father was killed. Obviously, Luke's father could only have died 20 years earlier as Luke was supposed to be 19 in the film. So, that means, according to the 1977 film itself, the Jedi were killed about 20 years prior to the events of the movie. The prequels literally did not retroactively change anything.
What do you think? What are some of the dumbest criticisms you've heard?

One of my favourites is criticism of fans criticising the prequels and in particular The Phantom Menace, with the disclaimer "Oh they're kids films, they were always just meant for kids".
Yeah right! Because George Lucas gets a pass on not being able to do basic math and calculate that the fans of the OT are now 20 years older 😂

"Yoda shouldn't use a lightsaber" - he's a Jedi. A lightsaber is consistently referred to as a Jedi weapon. Kinda self-explanatory.
I could go on about the Luke critiques in TLJ, but life is too short.

ONe criticism that makes the least sense to me anyway... Is complaining about them not planning out the entire sequel trilogy beforehand.

"No one hates Star Wars like Star Wars fans!" is one of the most over-used, obnoxious, regurgitated sayings on the internet in regards to this franchise.
Those that use it don't even understand what being a fan means. Without the fans, the value wouldn't have been there for Disney to pay $1 billion for it from Lucas. Without the fans, the franchise would have died during the years where there were no new Star Wars movies or TV shows. Star Wars fans kept it going.

The "woke" criticism is ridiculous. Just because a movie's lead is female or black does not make it woke. Other movies have had female and or black leads and didnt get this accusation. But when its Star Wars something ugly comes out in people!

Who was the bitch that said women couldn't relate to Luke Skywalker? Yeah that's about the dumbest criticism yet.

I LITERALLY came across this racist negative review on IMDB of one of the Star Wars Prequels back in late 2013 LITERALLY criticizing the Prequels for giving us a strong black Star Wars Jedi in Samuel L. Jackson’s Mace Windu and he was saying something along the lines of how he preferred the Original Trilogy because the cast of OT was far less diverse and there were much more white people in the older movies.
I could be remembering it wrong…but it really shocked that certain so-called “Star Wars fans” out there could be a little racist with their criticism of the Star Wars franchise and stuff just there REALLY IS racism in the Star Wars fanbase and THERE ARE ALT-RIGHT/TRUMPLICAN-LEANING “fans” out there that dislike the Prequels for RACIST and SEXIST REASONS or because they feel the Prequels are “too woke” or “two-anti-Alt-Right/Trumplican” or some stupid bullshit like that.

Plus I think we must remember that racists - when all is said and done - are still human beings. Even for them non white characters are surely low down on the list of problems with the prequels! Love the use of literallies though...

But when its Star Wars something ugly comes out in people! I think you have to go by a case by case basis, to determine which films are woke or not...
Also, it depends on many factors that have to do with the individual films. It also has to do with how the films are written and things like that. I don't think it's as simple as, some films had female / black leads weren't accused of being woke, so now we can't say that any modern films are woke .
