The opposite of “how do you feel when someone ‘likes’ your post?”
We’ve all created threads that we were hoping would generate discussion, but instead plummets down the listings until it disappears from the page altogether, uncommented on. Maybe you’re tempted to bump it with a message like “anyone?” This, however, only confirms your embarrassment that no one cared enough to reply. But why did it get an infamous 0’fer? Did your thread suck? Do people hate you? Do people have better things to do? Or was it just a case of bad timing, shrug and move on?

I went with: No problem at all, mainly because if I ever had become all too "emotional" and "obssessed" towards my own threads, and why they did not get more replies, then I think the best choice would just take a long break from the whole internet. Because I notice so many times over, at how social media, and the constant craving for likes, replies, thumbs up, star rating system, trying to reach as many posts as possible in the shortest way of time, and so on, it just seems so, stressfull and chaotic. Slow down a little.
However, I can somehow relate or, well "understand", that looking back on some of earlier forums I have been to, there was often those who would start up hundreds of new threads, a day, without no or very little effort, often not bother writing or even typing in something, and then they were right onto the next one.
Strangely, some of these very active users, used to have an incredible "hold" on other members, almost like their personal "followers" and their threads often would be full of "replies". But it felt more like just another "excuse" to keep on getting to those 50,000 posts or more, within the next week or so, and every bit of a "discussion", seemed to drown out, very early on.
While others, really made an effort, but somehow their threads just did not catch on, and I kind of felt bad for not replying more often in some of them. But I do not see any reason to do so, if I am not the least "motivated" to write or discuss something that has absolutely no interest for me.
Anyway, sure, bad timing, or maybe just a topic or theme which either have been over-discussed far too many times before, might be one of the reason to why things go a bit slow. Still, I do hope those who feel "disappointed" or "sad", do not stop starting up new threads, as sooner or later there will always come along those who are more than interested, and suddenly you have a very lively and interesting thread going.

Catman doesn't care because the threads with 0 replies were created by either Miko or Catman's imaginary friend Jake.

There is some disappointment. I mean if I make a thread I do hope there will be some people interested in conversing about the topic.

It really depends on how much work I put into the OP.
My threads where I post a quick "Found this on YouTube and wanted to share" are the ones most likely to garner zero replies, so I voted for "No problem at all".

Depends on the thread. If I thoughtlessly start a stupid topic that deserves no replies, or even I wouldn't reply to, I just try to do better next time.
But if I put a lot into a topic, in the hope of hearing people's thoughts, or reading their contributions, and then nobody replies, this can be a little disappointing. But only a little, life moves on.

Agreed. Sometimes I look at my thread and think 'I wouldn't reply to that stupid thread either' But sometimes I really want to know what people think. That's annoying

Often times threads are so thorough and well written that they inspire such awe and admiration that it's difficult to think of a way to add to them.

I used to write short essays to introduce a thread and encourage participation and set the intended route for the thread to go. Lately, I just post a title and a couple of replies that try to establish the theme and sit back and see if it goes anywhere or not. If it's something that I particularly like, I may add to it whether anyone else does or not. I am often surprised when one that was just a brief thought goes several pages and one I thought would be a "best seller" just sits and looks forlorn. Then there's the fun threads that get trolled immediately and no one dares to participate ! The less said about THEM the better .

Sometimes it's a bummer. Then again, sometimes I forget to even check to see if I got any responses.

I dont think I experienced 0 replies yet (edit: I actually looked and yes I have several with 0 replies) and if so, maybe its in the movies/TV section (and who cares, its info for others maybe one day they will find it useful) but I did recently start a “lets create” thread suggesting users participate by adding a few sentences and together we write a short story - and I was SURE that with so much talent and creativity and humor I see people present here routinely that we will write an awesome coherent interesting story AND have some fun doing it.
But I only had a few people respond so it didnt really work out. It doesnt make me feel enraged or embarrassed but surprised that there werent more people interested in doing something creative together.
Well, life IS full of surprises. I have to accept that what I find enjoyable is not necessarily what others find enjoyable too.
