Does anyone here purchase The Great Courses lecture series? During quarantine, My Lovely Wife and I are burning through them. We especially enjoyed recently a couple of titles on Archaeology and one on the meaning of Consciousness which was a combo of hard science, psychology, and philosophy. There are usually 12 or 24 30-minute lectures per topic at a university level by a major professor. Most of the courses used to be on audio CD as well as DVD and we would enjoy them on road trips but they are slowly phasing out the CDs. www.thegreatcourses.com/

Great idea, Mikef6. I'd forgotten about that service. My Mom used to receive their catalog, and I have ordered a couple of cooking series.
I'll re-acquaint myself with their inventory.

I got their catalog in the mail several times, but I was always too busy working for capitalist pig-dogs and contending with the general problems of life. My attempt to learn Spanish by cassette tape was similarly foiled.

They're fun, and generally pretty close to a good basic college lecture series on most of their topics. They have included some junk stuff in their catalogue these days, but when academia reaches out a hand to populus, I guess that's to be expected.
