I can see a romantic movie coming out based around the virus and possibly a Farley brothers type comedy about Ben Stiller trying to date in the post-covid world.
But I'd hate to just see everybody in the background of a 2020's film wearing masks and standing 6 feet apart the same way we would see people dressed in 1980's styles in a movie that was made in the '80's.

It's not going to happen as masks/gloves are a bit overkill for the average person.

If they did, that’d be a little amusing.

Here in Singapore we've been required to wear masks outside - the exception being when exercising - for some time now and it's really not all that bad. I don't see what the big fuss is.
I'm sure it'll be portrayed in film and TV in some capacity in the near future.

Interesting question. I think Hollywood will wait and see if masks and distancing does in fact become the new normal before introducing it as part of the background world of movies, especially comedies. In the context of a comedy it would just be an unpleasant reminder of the real world, unless humor was specifically derived from it. Then, if masks/distancing is basically forgotten in a year's time, any movie featuring it will be quickly dated.

Hollywood could hardly be any sicker than it is now. If they start putting masks in their movies it will just become an even sadder and fucked up cultural cemetery than it is now. Having to wear masks in public because of pollution is a social failure. having to wear masks in public because of the social failures around the globe is even worse!

Indeed... I don't think it's going to be the norm forever, but surely anybody who isn't currently wearing a mask when they're shopping, for example, needs to catch up with current events in the world.

We've been doing masks and gloves for decades. Social distancing depends on how fast you can run."

Why do people think this is gonna become the new normal? They’ve said many times it wasn’t going to be.

I think what will possibly evolve from this era of masks will be capes and full superhero attire for everyday wear.
