Have you guys ever noticed this? I wonder how many of us don't really look at our receipts or don't bother getting them if we're on the go, much less take the time to really pay attention beyond signing. We American's, always in a rush. I just saw this today.

WUT??!?!?!! Hmmm. I'll have to inspect the fine print more closely. I just check to see if the charge is correct. Wow!

Yeah, I heard about this...
While I (and many other people do too!) understand the concept...
To help pay for the rising costs of shipments during the (food) shortages during this pandemic... and to help ensure that businesses maintain an adequate workforce ("Hero" Bonuses) during Stay-At-Home orders to provide service to customers... as well as, to keep from having to raise prices on MENUS (instead of surcharges) to cover rising food costs...
The big problem is the lack of properly informing the customers of this new surcharge... (Putting a sign on the door, doesn't really accomplish this!)... And so, many customers just feel like they are being taken advantage of, during this crisis.
I do think most of us understand, that businesses need extra income to cover the rising costs of food & shipments, and would be more open towards it, if it were more well known, BEFORE customers decide to place their orders...
After all, it is just supposed to be temporary! (Yeah, well, We'll See...)...
But, a pandemic surcharge will be much harder to continue after the pandemic...as compared to... simply having higher prices being listed on menus.

They should be totally up front with people about the charge or just increase the price of the things on the menu. Doing it this way is sneaky and underhanded. If they were honest, most people wouldn't have thought twice about it. If they raised there prices by a little for each item people wouldn't have even noticed. It's their restaurant and they can do whatever they want. I can also choose to eat there or not.

This pandemic has been all about sneaky profiteering. Typical of the American Way.
