Back when Fantfourstic was in production, I was convinced for a number of reasons that the initial stages of production were a sham on Fox's part to generate leverage in a deal for the rights. Those reasons included that the majority of the cast was not hired until after filming began, the sets were minimal, the script was basic, and filming began at the last minute before the rights would expire, among other things.
I followed the production closely, and felt that Fox was trying to maximize a sale price. Not only that, but Marvel has no real intention to buy when they felt they could get the rights back for free if Fox had no genuine interest to make the film. When Marvel didn't bite on the deal, Fox was forced to finish a production they weren't committed to, cut their losses, and recoop as much money as they could. The horrible and chaotic production just doesn't make any sense if there was no other ulterior motive behind the obviously weak effort.
Even if Fox was only making the film to maintain the rights, part of that effort would have included attempting to investigate the profitability from a sale vs the cost/benefit of a production. So a conversation with Marvel had to happen on some level.
This means the opportunity still exists, and here's where we stand.
Fox wants enhanced rights for the marketing of X-Men toys, television, and other products, and Marvel is in a position where many of the characters associated with the Fantastic Four, could be substantially beneficial to them now that they are beginning to make concrete plans to move past the Infinity saga.
The leverage for any deal is the question. Marvel has enough unused product to live on without this deal, but would certainly want it to happen. Fox certainly realizes they have no value left in trying to market the FF brand and would want some value out of it without having to produce it again. The only way the brand has any value is with Marvel, and so a deal of some sort is sitting right there in plain sight. Whether that includes Marvel giving over a large share of the toy profits for X-Men, or only buying access to certain characters is something to be revealed in the negotiation, BUT!
I am nearly certain that come the end of Infinity, Marvel will announce that they have access to some if not all of the Fantastic Four universe.

After listening to Armins latest video I tend to agree.

After listening to Armins latest video I tend to agree. I don't know how much attention you paid to fantfourstic, but I was convinced there was something going on behind the scenes. The production was such a mess, and you don't get that level of chaos for no reason. It was complete disorganization. It constantly felt like they weren't making a movie, there were zero exterior shots, zero production photos outside of two questionable production stills, no promotion of concept art, and then there was the incredibly embarrassing interview with Kate Mara where just a week before shooting she admitted she had no idea if there were costumes of any type, and that she knew nothing about the production or story or anything. It was a total obvious mess.
So I saw two options. Either they were really that embarrassingly disorganized.
Or they were in some level of negotiation and only set up the bare bones framework for a film, just in case the negotiation didn't work out.
Now it seemed to me as they got close to the deadline, they realized they had to get a film going, and perhaps negotiations continued, but they were forced to throw together what they could onto their cheap framework and made a hasty trash film so that they didn't lose the rights altogether.
If that is even close to true, it means that talks likely continued, as Fox would be in even more of a position to want to make a deal after, than they were before, and Marvel is still in a position to want the characters back, so there is no reason they wouldn't be talking on some level.

I actually never saw fan 4 stic. It just didnt interest me after I read the reviews and read the comments on Imdb.
I never read US comics as a kid. The only thing I knew about the F4 was that there were some movies out and they were not considered very good. Since I have a MCU crush I have been reading up and there is nothing I would like to see more then a united MCU containing all the properties.

Basically nothing happens, it's boring as shit.
The Chris Evans fantastic 4 is actually fine. It's not bad. There's nothing overtly wrong with it, but it's just not as entertaining or interesting as anything in the MCU. But quality wise it's ok and worth a watch. The sequel has some excellent elements, but then does have a lot of goofy things going on that you wish weren't there, but again there are tons of worse films. I'd put it right alongside MOS to be honest, but I didn't think that film was any good either. It gets a little overrated by people who wish it was good.
But YES, I have an MCU crush as well, the 22 film run of the Infinity Saga is going to be the greatest film achievement of all time.

There were a lot of Fantastic Four conspiracy theorists on IMDB. I wouldn't believe it at first but, as the production wore on and the decisions became more and more bizarre, I had no choice but to acknowledge the truth.
Fox had no intention of making that film. The whole production was an elaborate bluff that, when Marvel called them out on it, they had to produce something to maintain the rights (and save face).
I think Marvel should go for a clean break with fox on FF - a complete buyout. Even if you think the older FF movies were entertaining, you have to admit that they do not know how to handle the property in any real depth or substance. Those movies were the cosmic-powered equivalent of Melrose Place.

It was hard to believe it I agree, but it's about the only thing that made sense. It was dramatic watching how poorly that film was executed and yet somehow it all made sense once you considered that they didn't want to make it and were using it as a bluff. Suddenly all the pieces fit. It was amazing.
I think you're right that Marvel wants complete ownership, and I think Fox wants complete ownership of the X-Men. It will depend largely on the projected values of those are, and where concessions or splits in profits have to be made to make the deal palatable for both companies, but I really think it's going to happen, and I've thought that from long before fant4stic went into production.

Yes, the movie was rushed into production, to beat the expiring rights, but that's about the only thing you got right. The pre reshoot script was very long, detailed, and expensive. Some of the exterior shots ( such as recreating Times Square, crowds, cars and all, in New Orleans ) were not only huge, they were very costly to film. The only reason the reshoot story and sets were so "basic" was to find a way to wrap up the film without spending even more money than was already wasted by Trank. Fox had very high hopes for FF, and spent accordingly. They didn't know they would have to fire drug addicted loser Trank, and then reshoot his unfinished film from scratch.

First, you didn't even address the fact that Mara knew nothing about what was happening a week before filming, and no additional cast members were added until after the supposed start date.
The script was not long, and it if there ever was a long script, it isn't the one they used for the film, in which almost nothing happens.
The exterior shots you refer to didn't involve the cast, and were just some second unit establishing shots, but nice try on that one, and they certainly weren't huge. You can't find a shot in the film outside of the drag race scene where anybody is standing legitimately outside.
Fox had no hopes for FF, and you already said above that it was rushed into production at the last minute, so I don't know how you reconcile those two statements.
And yes, Trank sucked. Are you trying to sell that they didn't know that at the point that no actors were hired for the film? Surely it must have been clear that no work was prepared and the actors knew nothing about the film. The studio is so incompetent they didn't realize that?
Why are you trying to defend this?

When Feige revealed his space expansion plans for post-Avengers 4, that was my main assumption. There's alot they can do with the Fantastic Four property.

There is absolutely no way the MCU DOESN'T get the Fantastic Four. Just give it time.

From what I heard and read, the blame for the failure of Fant4stic has to fall equally on both Fox and Trank. Fox very clearly made this movie only to keep the rights, and had no real plan in mind for it. I think what you said is pretty believable, about Marvel calling Fox's bluff and forcing Fox to actually throw something together. Trank, on the other hand, was the wrong guy for the project, and made a complete mockery of himself with his behavior.
That said, I also believe it's only a matter of time before Fox gives up the Fantastic Four and their related characters. Fox has consistently struck out with the brand, and there is a lot of fan pressure for it to go back to Marvel. And from what I've heard, Fox's head honchos actually like Kevin Feige, while they despised Ike Perlmutter. And with how massively successful the MCU has been, Feige has leverage. I wouldn't be surprised if within the next year or two, Marvel Studios buys out the rights to the Fantastic Four or strikes a deal with Fox to share the characters or swap them for others.

In that case, I'd still say the blame is more on Fox and here's why,
Imagine finding out that your bosses don't give a shit about your office, or how much money it makes. Your motivation to do well immediately falls to a new low. Now Trank is responsible, but if leadership of any group expresses that they don't care about the product, that lack of care will translate to the group and the quality will decline. Even if Tram knew before signing on then Fox is still more guilty.

Because it didn't threaten DC the way the MCU has been doing for years? MCU is no threat to the DCEU. MCU supporters have been trying since 2013 to derail the DCEU with biased reviews and BS rumors (e.g. "James Wan is quitting as Director of Aquaman"; "Ben Affleck won't play Batman anymore"; etc.), but despite all their failed efforts, the DCEU not only grossed $2 billion with just their first 3 movies (a mark that took MCU 5 movies to reach) but the DCEU has added even more movies to their original slate (e.g. Batgirl, Black Adam, Gotham City Sirens, Nightwing).
