Good grief. Which country do you live in? Australia, why? Using “Jewish” as an adjective to mean stingy is an antisemitic slur.

Using “Jewish” as an adjective to mean stingy is an antisemitic slur. It was a joke, it wasnt meant to offend

Using “Jewish” as an adjective to mean stingy is an antisemitic slur. Ever run across Jewish people using it that way? I have and I got to admit I was weirded out. I guess it's not that different from other racial/cultural demographics using slurs with the same demo. I guess I'm just used to more common usage of slurs inside in groups than that one. It's more represented in culture.

We don’t consider ourselves in general to be stingy. We are probably the only religion in the world (or one of the few) that requires the poorest of the poor to donate to the poor. It builds a sense of pride and responsibility.

I see a theme here. My Grandfather came to the U.S. at six with his parents from Germany. Experienced the Depression, WW2, the Carter administration. Once he discovered a box of corn flakes hadn't been properly sealed and the flakes had gone a bit soft. He spread them out on a cookie sheet and put them in the oven to crisp them up again. I loved that old gentleman. Cute!!

My Mom has a sense of humor that is sometimes not appreciated. My father lost a back tooth in the middle of dinner one night and he was not happy about it. My Mom asked, “Is that a tooth?!? A whole tooth?!?” “And nothing BUT a tooth?”

We are probably the only religion in the world (or one of the few) that requires the poorest of the poor to donate to the poor. It builds a sense of pride and responsibility. I've ran into it a few times in my life and like I said I was weirded out by it. Everytime was in a negotiating situation or consumer situation. And it was always in the generation before/older than me. First time it really surprised me. One of my old D&D players in college was Jewish and his Dad was the one who it was used against. Us three were in a Jewish Owned mom and pop electronics store and his Dad was dickering over the price of surround sound system (this was back in the 90's). After about 10 minutes the owner said "I'm not going to let you Jew me Down." There were people in the store other than us and I literally did a double take. Afterwards, I talked my friend and was like does your Dad know that guy? Is that some kind of inside joke or something? He said no. I dropped it because I had no idea if that was a sensitive subject or what. I've run into it a handful of other times too with other Jewish friends, but I don't broach the subject with them because I have no idea what's normal/sensitive. Edit: It was used against my friends Dad not my friends Dad using it. Also should say the Dad didn't look mad about it, and he did end up buying the Surround System.

I use my Lego bricks over and over again.
I often buy more stuff to avoid the shipping cost.
Sometimes, I ignore the best before date and eat stuff nonetheless.
I buy Rockstar energy drinks only when they are offered with a discount, and I will wait till one of the four discounter in my town does it.
