So do you think there really is such a thing as a truly unselfish act?

So do you think there really is such a thing as a truly unselfish act? Yes. But you cannot talk about it or it is negated

Yes. Happens all the time and people don't have a need to brag about it or do it for ulterior motives.

Yes, obviously. I am surprised you would even ask this (no offense). to give a more basic/obvious, although more extreme example... someone sacrifices their own life to save another. I realize this is not a common thing though but it's a pretty obvious example of a act of total selflessness. someguy Yep, that's one example! ; it plays inline with this verse from the Bible... “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." - Matthew 6:1-4 basically those who give and want to be seen by others is them just trying to shine up their own image and it's done for selfish reasons and not true selflessness. so those who give and do it so others praise them have already received their reward and get NOTHING from God for doing it (even though we all know God likes giving in general be it $ or ones time/company etc). it does not appear to be a sin if someone gives $ to be seen by others, but you get NOTHING from God by giving when your doing it to be seen by others.

Yes, especially when the act occurs reflexively without necessity of thought.

all of the above is questionable (truly unselfish act) because I bet it makes u feel good, knowing u did good for someone else. so no, i dont think so. unless u r a sociopath who doesnt recognize good things as good or doesnt feel good about doing good things. so u pick. selfish or a psycho? also, Friends already established this 20 years ago but u probably knew that ;-)
