DORAGON BORU SUPA: BURORI (DRAGON BALL SUPER: BROLY) has the entertaining fights we've come to expect plus some beautiful use of color that I don't remember seeing in any other movie or series of this franchise. However, some of the songs have lyrics like "Go, [Character's name], go!", which comes off as silly. The animation gets a little rough towards the end. The characters lose their details and look like storyboard sketches. As a remake of DORAGON BORU ZETTO: MOETSUKIRO! NESSEN RESSEN CHO-GEKISEN (DRAGON BALL Z: BROLY, THE LEGENDARY SUPER SAIYAN), it's mostly an improvement (although I must point out that a certain character that had debuted in another movie is brought back). The plot is better written and Broly is more developed as a character. However, I'm not so sure about Paragus, his father. Before, he was clearly a selfish jerk, so it was easier for the viewer to hate him despite having an understandable reason for wanting revenge. In this version, he leaves his entire life behind in order to save himself and his son (the wife/mother apparently doesn't exist). When Broly grows up, he can't control himself and acts like a beast at times, so Paragus creates what's basically an electric dog collar to control him (a disappointingly less creative decide than the one from that other movie). An alien named Cheelai finds them and, less than a day later, accuses Paragus of being a bad father who turned a pure-hearted boy into a fighting machine. Girl, please! You don't even know Broly; you're just horny! Also, as a member of a warrior race, Broly would've probably turned out this way too. During the climactic fight, Paragus expresses real concern for Broly. The movie indirectly ends on the note that he was a bad guy all along. 8/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.

IIRC the silly song lyrics were inspired by Latin American fans chanting out character's names during public screenings of the final Dragon Ball Super episodes. I thought it was a nice gesture toward them- yeah its cheesy but Dragon Ball is a fairly cheesy franchise. That's part of the appeal IMO.
