I'd rather own land with a big lake on it

Island, the more isolated the better.

Own land with a big lake and then build an island (if there’s not one there already).

When my father and I have gone up to my brother's place, which is about a 7 hours' drive north, we pass quite a few cottages on the lake.
I'm thinking.....that must be SO peaceful.

Land by a lake. I've stayed on a little island before (camping) and we had to boat back and forth for supplies and it was tedious. The charm wears off rather quickly. With sufficient land, you'd still have privacy and water with beach front. Ta-dah. Problem solved.

Island, if it's a big lake and my seclusion is certain.

Land with a lake big enough to include an island.
