His name is Mr. Toad. He's been a regular visitor to my back porch every night for some months. At first, my dog wanted to paw at him, chase him, and at one point, Mr. Toad was in my dog's mouth!
We've made considerable progress, because now when Mr. Toad shows up as he does every night, I can leave the leash loose and we walk right by Mr. Toad and my dog is just fine. Oh he'll occasionally reach down to sniff Mr. Toad, and Mr. Toad seems just fine with it.
Pretty good, huh? lol

Does he have a ?I think he's living under my porch because my dog gets excited and wags his tail a lot, eager to see what's under there. Something's under my back porch. Could be a chipmunk, a squirrel, or Mr. Toad. I'm just hoping it's not a skunk! I still find it so cute that Mr. Toad knows when we're walking by and doesn't jump away, even when my dog sniffs him or we walk close by. Maybe if I get a little toad house, he'll go in? lol

autumn If it was a skunk you would know it ! Oh believe me. Every now and again I get the whiff of a skunk who periodically "visits" the area. I'm hoping his zip code isn't under my porch.

I had one who was starting to make a nest under the granary. She was coming out and gathering dry grass and leaves etc I rang one of those triangle dinner bells every time she appeared and she decided that the neighbors were too noisy !
Whew ! Those babies are cute but not that near the house !

Best keep an eye on Mr. Toad. He's likely to try and steal your car to go out for a joyride.

Did you ever pick up a toad? We had them in our yard growing up. If you picked them up and they got scared, they'd "pee" on you!!!

I think I met the missus last night. There were two toads on the back porch hippity-hopping. Never saw two toads out back before.
