I miss Participating in the game boards โsurvivorโ-esque games. People where trying to hook up in real life because they flirted in the game.๐๐๐
I always got voted off because I missed the meeting times.

I miss the way every film, TV show, and person had its/his/her own message board. The posts were amazing in providing information about their subjects; it's a shame how all of that was wiped out.

Just the fact that every movie and tv show had it's own thread. There was a lot of content to read on those boards, that is until the last 2 years when the jackasses started purging threads en masse before ultimately getting rid of message boards completely.

The individual message boards for movies, tv shows and actor/actresses Same here. I liked discussing movies, actors and actresses. And many times If I did not understand the ending of a movie I could always count on discussing it with others that saw it.

Although I enjoyed the "individual message boards for movies, tv shows and actor/actresses", I also spent a lot of time on the IMDb music boards, for which there is an IMDB v2.1 equivalent. In some ways, the IMDB v2.1 is an improvement over the original IMDb message boards. For example, the IMDB v2.1 Movie Quotes board is something new that originated here as part of Film General, and then was spun off to its own board.

For example, the IMDB v2.1 Movie Quotes board is something new that originated here as part of Film General, and then was spun off to its own board. But the problem between the spinoffs and IMDb is the volume of users, the traffic. When I mentioned spinoffs before, I was referring to IMDB v2.1 Movie Quotes board being spun off from IMDB v2.1 Film General board, with everything residing here on the IMDB v2.1. But when talking about the IMDB v2.1 web site as being a "spin off" of the original IMDb, yes you are correct, the volume of users here is nowhere near what it was on the original IMDb. However, from what I've seen, this is the largest of the IMDb message board replacement sites.

Same. Some people would even post on their own boards. I posted in some 80s movie's board talking about how I really liked the music, and the director responded, saying the music was done by his band (or maybe his friend's band?).

On the board for the movie The City of the Dead (aka Horror Hotel ), the film's director, John Llewellyn Moxey, was gracious enough to respond to and thank the posters who enjoyed the film. It was great that an artist was able to get praise for his work, and that he was able to address his fans.
