Ok, my title's a bit provocative, and I'd add the obvious caveat that there are undoubtedly masterful, world-caliber virtuosos out there in jazz, classical, and other niche genres that receive little-to-no attention because of their obscurity; but last night I watched The Aristocrats' "Boing, We'll Do it Live!" concert and I haven't been this impressed by a trio of musicians this much since Rush. Guthrie Govan can, I think, lay a legit claim to being the best guitarist in the world right now, and Marco Minnemann is certainly one of the best drummers. Bryan Beller is the least flashy of the trio, but what struck me most about him was the versatility, how he easily he shifted tones and styles from super-groovy to super-heavy to super-subtle to super-complex and everything in between.
Anyway, the whole concert was also 2.5 hours long, they played their entire first album plus selections from their solo albums. Here's a few highlights (I'm actually posting time-stamps for the tracks, but you can actually watch the whole show on YouTube):
