I myself have actually never seen "REQUIEM FOR A DREAM" but I have heard some positive things about it.
Is it really a pretty good movie ?

It’s one of my favourites. Not for the faint of heart though.

The most disturbing and depressing movie I have seen about drug addiction. It is a very well made and very graphic film about the lowest lows of sad and lonely people.
On a technical level it is masterful.

Yes, it's a good movie. The last 15-20 minutes are great! Worth watching for that part alone.

Exceptional movie, and riveting. As was mentioned, not for the faint of heart. It's enlightening, sad, depressing, deep, mournful, riveting, engaging, pensive...
It's masterful.

I suppose one of those things you heard about was the ass-to-ass scene. Lol.

Watch Thumbsucker (2005) instead. Thematically they’re identical and doesn’t make use of a sledgehammer to get its point across.
