Some gyms are starting to open back up.
Sadly, my particular gym is out of business, (it was a private gym, not a franchise). There's another gym that's closer to me that I can check out, but I can't imagine working out with a mask on, huffing and puffing on the treadmill or lifting weights. Plus I know not everyone cleans the benches when they use them...
tl;dr? Conflict.

It takes a toll physically and mentally. I look like a half-plucked chicken and am just getting accustomed to throwing on a hat and a mask.

You did hear the '19' in COV19 stands for how many pounds we have gained during the stay at home orders. Jk

I remember they closed the doors, pretty much all over the country (Norway) back in mid of March (12-13th) but I think they will start to re-open either the 15th or 20th this month. However, I will not be surprised if it might change for a few weeks, or month, because of all the recent demonstrations or large group of people gathering together.
Anyway, I do not miss training inside all that much, and beside doing a bit of indoor workout with my hybrid ergometer/spinning cycle, or some weight lifting, I usually tend to do most of the training outdoor, and right now, nothing is more motivating or better than to run for long distances (or shorter) through the woods or in nature. Beautiful scenery, fresh air and then there are all kind of beautiful creatures wandering around, either a woman, or a large moose, a small fox, some even smaller mice, or some fat badgers trying to make their way across over the road.
Stuff like that, well, maybe beside the women, barely happens inside a gym.

Gyms in NJ will reopen after June 22, and it's going to be interesting with separation, plexiglass screens separating equipment, sanitizing required by users after use, the option of taking workouts at home via internet . . . I haven't been to a gym in years, but know a lot of people who do. Don't think I'd go back even with all the precautions. I'm not going to dine outside either. Too soon. I'll do take-out, but not dining outside at the restaurant.

I plan on continuing to wear a mask, not going into restaurants or the gym, and minimizing my time when I do go into a store (I do surgical shopping). I can't imagine sitting across a dinner table with people (not my family). I'm also concerned about what Fauci's been saying all along, that we're due for a second wave. That, along with the fact that people are not taking it seriously.

I haven't gone back to a gym yet but ive been consistently working out/eating healthier since memorial day. I usually go on a 2-3 mile walk/jog or ride my stationary bike when/if its rainy.

If I read the schedule for SF correctly, they won't open until August, here. I'm not much of a gym-goer, anyway. Like you, I walk a lot, and years ago I taught aerobic dancing. All of the old music is available on YouTube, so I have no excuse ... but, I don't do much of it. Two good friends of mine have a hairdresser who is privately doing basic cuts, with strict precautions. I'm a bit nervous, but I'm going to see her, tomorrow. I guess I'm chalking it up to doing something positive for my emotional well being. I feel like I'm starting to look like the Bette Davis character in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? Salons, here, aren't scheduled to open until mid July. I'd be institutionalized, by then. I can easily do my own mani/pedi. And, theaters can wait.

I saw on TV to take a pic of your face to show the stylists. With the mask on they cannot see ones features. This way helps I don't blame your nervousness.
