Lucas is easily the best despite not making the best (Empire) the writing, production, visuals, etc were all much better than the first and even though there was a different director Lucas still pulled all the right strings. Also hate me or not, the prequels were much better than any sci-fi films made at the time of their release, and visually Lucas kept up with technology.

Agreed, this is a no brainer.
STAR WARS (1977) is right up there with The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind as an All Time Hollywood Classic.

I gave it to Lucas, but technically Irvin Kershner (Empire) may deserve the "best director" title because despite him being a Lucas puppet director, he infused a lot of the humor and humanity that makes this episode his own and great. You can feel his contribution despite Lucas.
I know too little about what Edwards actually contributed to Rogue One, or if the film turned out as it is despite of him, but they did do something right.
Those sorry souls that voted JJ Abrams shall burn in Star Wars hell doomed to watch the rehashed abomination with all it's lens flare, piss poor fanfic writing and rushed execution for all eternity. Damn them!
