Seems like they are applying this to every movie ever made because anything can offend anybody these days.

These movies didn't need trigger warnings than and they don't need them now. Just don't watch the movie.

Personally I found The Last Samurai so dull that I barely struggled to the end, maybe that's the reason why...
...but really, this is getting ridiculous. There'll be no movies left soon.

Ir's because The Last Samurai is a White Savior Film. All the Samurai needed to triumph was a white guy to lead them. Total bullshit.

The Samurai did not triumph, the movie is set during the Meiji Restoration in 1868 which marks the end of the Samurai when they lost most of there privileges. And the whole Samurai system was abolished in the 1870s. Also if i remember correctly the movie ended with the Japanese army slaughtering the Samurai with machine guns when the Samurai attacked them with swords.

How many more of these threads are you planning on creating? What's the point? They're just warnings; they're not banning the movies. Except Cruises character doesn’t save the Samurai White savior isn't just about literally saving a minority, but also to take up screen time and protagonism. It's the mentality that, without inserting (or even forcefully shoving) a white character into a setting like this, would people pay to see it? The mentality that audience only want to see themselves on the screen. the Japanese must not care, since it’s one of the top grossing films in their country Box office results don't actually reflect how liked or disliked a movie is.

Oh yes, I’m shocked an American movie had an American star! Especially one of the biggest stars in Hollywood who also produced the movie and is likely the reason the movie got made and was a draw for cinema audiences across the globe Because the trigger warnings are laughable and giving credence to the idea young people today are overly sensitive snow flakes Wrong. Japanese love this movie. It’s a fact. It wasn’t just a “hit”. It’s in that top ten grossing films of all time surpassing most actual Japanese films

I agree box office results aren't the best way to engage how a much is perceived by the general audience (the Transformers films made a ton of money and they're quite hated by many). Regarding how the Japanese may feel about the movie itself and the "white savior" trope I would have to look into it, but I do know the Japanese frequently like putting in caucasian characters in their JRPGS and anime (though that's probably mainly to appeal to western audiences). I wouldn't be too surprised though if they weren't too happy about the inclusion of Tom Cruise in the movie though (they're very culturally conservative).
