Each UNDERWORLD sequel was released 3 years after the previous one. UNDERWORLD PART 5: BLOOD WARS was released 5 years after. That might not seem like a big difference, but audiences forget fast. Especially when it comes to a franchise that has never been that financially successful. That's why this movie begins with a montage of clips from the previous installments and a narration explaining everything: The makers know that viewers don't remember. You would think that the movie would then try to compensate with non-stop fight sequences, but most scenes just show conversations. Normally, it's a good thing to focus on the plot and the characters more than in the action, but: -They weren't well-written here. Since it's hard for us to get invested in this world, the slow pacing feels as unnecessary as serving turkey in Thanksgiving. No one will try it, because everyone only want to eat turkey. Wait, what? -This isn't a drama. Movies of this genre require a minimum amount of action. 0/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog (in English, in Spanish or in Italian).

It's better than the last one, but holds no candle to the original trilogy(i don't really get the hate for the prequel, it's only hated cause it doesn't have Selene and firearms).
300: Rise of an Empire came 7 years after 300 and was sucessful, Blood Wars wasn't because it was not developed enough and they tried to push Theo James down our throats, the guy is not much charismatic and his role is boring, plus they really wasted the female villain.

I enjoyed it (I've never seen RISE OF THE LYKANS all the way through, so I can't compare the two), and I think it and the original are going to be my favorites out of the lot. Just wish they could have talked Scott Speedman into coming back for a scene or two in the current one, or AWAKENING, but I think they handled his exit as well as they could.
