Let’s cut the chit-chat, A-hole! Still love this movie. Ed Harris scary intense, Nic Cage in his prime, and the great Sean Connery. That fleeting moment before it was pretty much downhill for Michael Bay.

Many consider it Michael Bay's best movie.

Many consider it Michael Bay's best movie. Count me as one of them. It’s surprising how much of it holds up.

I can't stand Michael Bay, but I do love The Rock. Top notch action thriller.

Not a bad movie, but with the exception of the car chase I always thought the action scenes were rather meh. With such a great cast this should've been better. Cage and Bruckheimer were planning to do a sequel, not sure why it never happened.

Yep it's the only Bay movie I can re-watch.
One thing that cracks me up--although it is a straight action film, the guy who reminds me of William Devane makes a mention to the secret files--including the alien landing at Roswell. If I was the other guy I would be saying: "fuck the VX gas--are you saying aliens are real? Wow!"
Stanley Goodspeed: You've been around a lot of corpses. Is that normal?
John Mason: What, the feet thing?
Stanley Goodspeed: Yeah, the feet thing.
John Mason: Yeah, it happens.
Stanley Goodspeed: Well I'm having a hard time concentrating. Can you do something about it?
John Mason: Like what, kill him again?

I am a big fan.
Easily Michael Bay's best movie. Great style, fun action and awesome performances from Nicolas Cage, Sean Connery and Ed Harris.
Takes itself seriously enough, but also knows it is a silly action movie. It finds a perfect balance.
The script was touched up by Quentin Tarantino and there is definitely a Tarantino vibe to some of the dialogue. The kind of witty dialogue you won't find in any other Michael Bay movie.
Sean Connery - "Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious according to Oscar Wilde"
Gets hit by Ed Harris
Sean Connery - "Thank you for making my point."
8/10
