Every night, I start watching TV around 7:45pm, to watch 7:00pm TV. That way I can FF through commercials.
Sometimes, when I FF, what ends up happening is instead of FF'ing, it rewinds to the very beginning of the program, in this case, 7:00pm, and it happens every single time I have a commercial, so each commercial sends me back to 7:00pm no matter what time.
Does anyone else have experience with live TV like this?

I don't rewind "live", but I record the daily news/current events program I watch of the evening to PVR and watch it back an hour or so later to avoid advertisements.
I pretty much never watch TV live.

Occasionally. Usually cricket if I've missed the start of a match. But most times I put the match on timer record, so it's probably even less than occasionally. More like almost never. Seldom watch TV at all except for that. Modern shows are usually pretty crappy, and I've all the old shows I like downloaded on computer. The last time I watched TV was Brexit night (Jan 31 2020). I watch and read all the news I want online. Guess I'm the wrong guy to answer your question.

I have never had that problem with live tv. Most of the stuff I watch is dvr'd. But rewinding live tv was never an issue for me Most of the time, it works fine. I don't watch TV except MeTV at night, from 7:00pm until 11:00pm when I go to bed, and that's all. But technically I don't turn the TV on until around 7:45pm, (to begin watching what started at 7pm which is MASH) so I can FF through commercials. So really I'm on TV from around 8-11 weeknights. Weekends it's just Saturday night Svengoolie. lol Anyway, I've only encountered this weird thing a few times, and it's so annoying. Generally it's fine. But when it does happen, it can be a real time of 8:20pm and I'll hit FF for the first commercial and it'll REWIND to the 7:00pm starting time, making me go through everything, each and every commercial break. Really, no one has ever experienced this oddity?

I got a new cable box recently and the rewinding is at different speeds than before so I think each box and system is different. Unless this is a malfunction and you need a new box.

I very rarely watch live TV. I usually PVR shows so that I can watch them later.
There was one time I was watching a hockey game when there was an absolutely MASSIVE hit against the board. The player pretty much flew from the goal line to the boards - crashing into the boards.
I had to rewind it - just to make sure I saw that correctly!

Ohhhh. Just regular cable. lol me too. do you have a dvr I think I can just set my TV to record and do it that way, and delete it when I'm done. That might be a much better way to deal with this whole thing. Ahh, that escaped my train of thought!
