this was better than I expected. Had kind of a gritty and almost horror/slasher movie type vibe at parts (reminded be of Terminator 1 at points) mixed with the usual Sly action and one liners. Worth the blind buy. Was definitely rushed and haphazardly edited though. Would have liked to see the original 120 minute cut.

"I got a bomb here! I'll kill her! I'll blow this whole place up!"
"Go ahead. I don't shop here."
The fact that they brought over a couple of actors from DIRTY HARRY was welcome, but the Cola wars of the 80s play out in the movie so Cobra lives behind a Pepsi sign, and when they go off to a small run-down town, there is a dirty Coca-Cola machine in the background).
"You know what the trouble with you is? You're too violent."

Maltin Movie Guide Review:
Cobra (1986) 1.5 out of 4 stars
"Once more, Stallone wraps himself in the American flag and fights for the greater glory of mankind by going after criminal vermin; this time, he's as a cop. Typical low-grade action fare, where all the other cops are stubborn dummies, and the bad guys are repellent creeps. Some good action sequences."

When the movie came out, Stallone insisted that they reissue the book that helped inspire it. With his name as coauthor .

Rumor has it that on both Rambo 2 and Cobra Stallone was the real director and Cosmatos his front man and that he suggested Kurt Russell do the same on Tombstone.

According to Gale Anne Hurd, Stallone could never remember James Cameron's name when they met for Rambo script meetings.
