Something Evil Savage Sugarland Express Always Crystal SkullThe BFG Any reason for that? Just because of the negative reaction? Pretty much. I don't even like Temple that much, so I didn't have much interest in an even shittier Indy movie.

Yasujiro Ozu – 34All surviving films to the best of my knowledge Ingmar Bergman – 25Which is only about half his output but I have seen most of the major ones Kenji Mizoguchi – 24From 30 surviving films Only seen 21 from Hitch Wow, that's very enviable. I do love to see more movies of all those 3 directors. How do you keep track of the movies you have seen? By rating them on IMDB? I have rated almost every movie I have seen since 2009 on IMDB. Some movies I may have seen and forgotten to count if I saw them before 2009 and did't rate later. SciFive which director is top for you in terms of aggregate movies seen?

I've also started using Letterboxd because I like the format/layout, but I'm not rating, only indicating films I've seen.

Hi - I’m not sure but I’ve seen a lot of movies from people like Spielberg, Ron Howard, Tony and Ridley Scott. I see a lot of different director’s movies.

It has to be Woody Allen for me, since he’s made about one movie a year for nearly fifty years, and up until very recently when he started having trouble getting his movies distributed I always watched them. There may be one or three from early in his career that I haven’t seen, and I think his latest one hasn’t been made available here, but other than those I have seen them all.
I love Hitchcock and I own I think all of his American movies on DVD or Blu-Ray (plus quite a few of his British ones) but there are many that I still haven’t watched.

Numbers are approximate and open to interpretation. I didn't include Kubrick's Fear And Desire even though I've seen an extremely grainy copy of it. I didn't count short films (run less than an hour), 'segments' or TV episodes but did include documentaries and TV movies.
100% Kubrick 12/12 90.91 Chaplin 10/11 90.00 Nolan 9/10 85.71 Aronofsky 6/7 78.18 Hitchcock 43/55 77.14 Spielberg 27/35 76.47 Scorsese 26/34 73.47 Allen 36/49 73.08 Wilder 19/26 72.73 FF Coppola 16/22 72.73 Cameron 8/11 71.43 Truffault 15/21 63.16 Kazan 12/19 62.50 PT Anderson 5/8 57.14 Wyler 20/35 56.25 Kurowsawa 18/32 50.00 Bay 7/14 32.14 Bergman 18/56

Vittorio De Sica ---- the master of masterpieces I was blown away by Bicycle Thieves and then appreciated Umberto D. a lot. When I saw Shoeshine (1946) then I thought wow, it can't get better than that.

I need to work on getting your scores such as Kubrick 12/12 and Wilder 19/26. Glad to see a Chaplin fan. You are a Canadian if I remember correctly. I don't mean any ill will towards some of our American friends but they should probably reconsider changing their view son Chaplin. Many times when I brought him up I met sarcasm and derision by replies that immediately compared him with Buster Keaton (who is no less than Chaplin in film making or acting) and insinuated how he was lesser artist than Keaton. Even some Americans who speak against McCarthyism are probably still not able to see how a propaganda was run against Charlie Chaplin to deny his greatness. For me Chaplin remains one of the greatest names in history of cinema.
